Hi Johnny, thanks for the terrific info. I'm looking at a Winnebago Journey, MSRP of $151,560, plus $43,000 in options, for a total of $194,298. I am thinking of 25% off the MSRP, but what about the options? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, petemqn1

My husband and I are seriously looking at a 2005 Southwind 32vs. I'd like your thoughts on the initial quote we were given. It has the Workhorse engine, four door refrigerator, sound system, driver's door, auto satellite. I don't remember other option upgrades. It does not have the full body paint job.
We were told that the MFSP is $126,900 but with a "discount" they would sell it for $104,995. We're trading in a two year old, 27' TrailLite trailer. They are offering us $14,000.
Since this is our first motorhome purchase I'm wondering what room we have to negotiate the above prices.
thanks

I would like to add that we choose a salesperson instead of a particular model or manufacturer. We had more time than money and we used it to our advantage. We decided to buy a used, late-model, Class A motorhome from any dealer located within a reasonable drive from our home. After multiple trips to view dealer inventories, we decided that there was one salesperson that related very well to our requests and took the time to assist and educate us. Over time we became more comfortable with this person and really liked the various products he showed us. About the third month of reseaching and looking at a lot of RV's, we received a call from this salesperson and I could tell from the excitement in his voice that he had found our coach. That was 1 1/2 years ago and we still love our motorhome. In all probability, we will use the same salesperson when it's time for our next purchase.

YES !!! Go, JohnnyT Go !! I agree 110% Should be required reading. I printed it and also the ...buying used post... and it is on my wifes' Must Read list. As I posted here and there I realize this DieselPusher thing is a whole lot different than kicking tires on a Kenworth or Peterbilt. Us on-the-road lifers eat sleep and dream diesel fuel....our spouses and new to the road people don't. Now if only I could make up my darn mind.....geeeze!!!! Prevost 500hp or a pop-up tow behind. Hmmmmm Locomotiveman
Locomotiveman..Yes I am a career cross-country Locomotive Engineer. Wife is an RN. We are CLOSE to retiring and 'downsized' to a Monaco Executive w/450hp Cummins and nice drapes. Locomotiveman
