reading & asking questions is the way unless you can hook up with someone experienced to go with. I have been camping for 20 yrs and never once in a campground of any kind. Nice thing about Az, lots of options. Mtns in summer & desert in winter and places for fall & spring. We can always find someplace to go.

The term boondocks is an American English term for a remote, usually brushy rural area; or to a remote city or town that is considered unsophisticated.
Boondocking - Present participle of boondock.

First time dry camping,does the chassis battery stay on or off.Using coach batteries with generator for charging.

Dry camping means no water or dumping facilities for hookups. Whether you run a generator or solar panels or even batteries does not affect whether you dry camp or wet camp, or boondock, as far as the utilites portion not being there.
That would be called electricless camping, if you didn't have storage and production means for electricity. And if you didn't bring propane or white gas, that would be gasless camping.
Yes, you can dry camp with a generator, or solar panels. It's a utility when you are on the grid, it's a luxury when you make your own, or harvest your own. But it doesn't have much to do with the definition of dry camping.

to me,its all the same label, just different locations.no power,no sewer.it's really just squatting when you park overnite in a parking lot. in fact,imho,if you are hooked up,your rving not camping,if you can't light a proper campfire, you're rving,not camping,if you can't pee behind the nearest tree without offending the neighbors,you're rving, not camping,if you can't target shoot in your site without the swat team coming down on you,you're rving,not camping.if you cant jump in the lake in your birthday suit,you're rving,not camping.if you can't sit up till the wee hours drinking beer and laughing without someone telling you to shut the hell up,well,you know..
