RE: Dish for Bell Expressvue

I used a regular dish mounted on a tripod. Portable enough for me.

RE: Hot weather towing

Fridge cooling will also be a problem. Keep it in the shade while parked if possible.

RE: Shaw Direct Satellite

Check for up-to-date info. At this time, nobody is sure when F2 is going to fall out of the sky (it has no fuel to maintain its orbit. It's not going to fall, just drift too far off station for a fixed dish to pick it up). We had F2 in Florida all last winter. It's possible it will last this winter coming too. It's also possible it won't last - nobody knows. Shaw has another satellite G1 that will provide coverage in Canada and northern USA for the next few years. Vegas will be the same as Florida. If someone is saying they can't get Shaw Direct in Vegas RIGHT NOW, they're wrong.

RE: Onan Generator

I'm sure the documentation for my Onan 5500 says 30 minutes a month. I guess Onan has upped the hours in the 12 years since mine was installed.

RE: Gmail Problem

I went looking and I found insert buttons of various types at the bottom of the "COMPOSE" window of gmail. Never use 'em

RE: all breakers blowing

Very hard to believe "all" breakers are tripping. Yeah, I don't understand that either. Why would an overload on one circuit cause all breakers to trip? Something very wrong with that.

RE: Gmail Problem

No problems with Gmail for me, although I don't know what this insert button is - I use CTRL-V

RE: What the heck?……..

I know this won't make sense to a lot of you, but one of the two satellites we use is old and literally falling out of the sky - it won't be usable soon. Unfortunately the other satellite doesn't have footprint in Florida where we go for the winter - so soon, no Canadian content. If I can't get CANCON via streaming (lots of geofencing and VPN blocking involved) I may just quit RVing (in the winter). Yes, I read books, watch bluray and stream movies, but that's not enough (maybe - it's a big decision).

RE: Has anyone replaced a switch for their Onan generator?

It probably won't start because you don't have enough hours on it (supposed to exercise the generator for a half hour every month).

RE: What the heck?……..

We have 4 TVs in our RV. We use them all (but not at the same time as there are just two of us). How do you survive with just one tv?

RE: Will a truck camper fit over the 5er rails in the truck bed?

I know air bags don't increase weight capacity but do you think I'll need them to keep my truck level? It settles about 2" with 3100 pound king pin weight.

RE: Will a truck camper fit over the 5er rails in the truck bed?

I had a 2004 Ram before the Silverado. I loved that truck but when I changed 5er in 2011, it couldn't handle the job. The Silverado was the only one of the big 3 that was rated for the new load in 2011. To that end, it handles the load quite well. I don't know what the camper will feel like, but the cargo trailer on its own is easy. I'm surprised that you would equate difficulty hauling the big 5er with camper and cargo trailer.

Lol. No it doesn’t. Well it might right now but that’s a 2 ton camper, full ready to camp.Sorry, I don't understand your comment.

RE: Will a truck camper fit over the 5er rails in the truck bed?

The sticker on the truck says 4841lbs payload. I'm not sure but I think each tire can handle around 2500lbs in dually configuration. So, no, I know I won't have a camper with three slides, etc. The Northern Lite 10-2EX Limited Edition weight 3360lbs and it would satisfy our needs - no slides.

RE: Will a truck camper fit over the 5er rails in the truck bed?

Have you considered what you will do with the camper while you're wintering in the 5th wheel?I'm hoping to leave it on the truck. If not possible, there's on site storage. We can use our motorcycles for most things; last winter we only drove the truck maybe once a week

RE: Will a truck camper fit over the 5er rails in the truck bed?

I would think pulling the 5000# trailer, IMO, would be OK.The 5er I pull is 19,000lbs but I suspect its pin weight is less than a truck camper and a trailer.

Will a truck camper fit over the 5er rails in the truck bed?

I've been hauling a 5er for 20 years and frankly I'm getting tired of it. I've been thinking of leaving my 5er down south and travelling to / from it for the winter; in fact we done it once already. Our 5er is a toy hauler (2 Harleys) so we got a 16 foot cargo trailer to haul the bikes (about 5000lbs all up). We really didn't like having to stay in motels 4 nights in a row (too much stuff to carry for us and the cats). I'm thinking about getting a truck camper so we can stay in it vs. motels. I'll be the first to admit that while I know a lot about RVing, I know next to nothing about truck campers. My very first question is this: will a camper fit OK on top of the 5er hitch rails? The hitch is easy to get out but not the rails. My second question is: is it reasonable to expect my 2011 Silverado 3500HD CCLB dually diesel to handle a camper and a 5000 pound cargo trailer? Thanks in advance.

RE: i pad or ?

I've been travelling with a desktop for many years. I'm finally going to switch to a laptop. Can't see a tablet in my future, but there are many things that are easier / possible to do with a smartphone.
