RE: Dometic Refrigerator-No Circulation

Thanks, Since it appears no one makes a replacement cooling unit for a RM2192 I will probably have to have a friend cut and weld. Exactly what has to be removed and what is the best place to get an replacement? Is the whole coil usually bad or can I just replace a section? Who can do the recharging? Sorry for all the questions but this is all new territory for me. Any other advice you think would be helpful will be appreciated. Bob

RE: Dometic Refrigerator-No Circulation

Thanks for the info. I’m in the process of searching now. My concern is that my small fridge is an old low production unit that is not profitable for them to produce.

Dometic Refrigerator-No Circulation

Greetings, Just resolved one problem on my RM2192 and another unrelated problem popped up which is probably more serious. The burner box/tube is hot and the absorber is cold. Classic symptoms of no circulation. I turned the fridge upside down for a day and tried again and the problem continued. My plan of action is to now rotate it often and frequently tap on the tubing with the handle of a screwdriver for about a week and then try again. Am I just wasting my time? Is the fridge a goner? I bought it new in 1984 and have gotten my moneys worth out of it but my counters were built around it and it would be a major problem to install something different. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

RE: Dometic RM2192 Fridge Problem

Does anyone know the manufacturer of short two stage propane regulators? My present one stage regulator is 3 inches long, not counting brass. I know I probably cannot find a two-stage that short but something in that range may fit with a little tweaking. I only need a low capacity one since I only have a two burner stove and my refrigerator.

RE: Dometic RM2192 Fridge Problem

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been thinking that may be the problem but I’m on the road and will not be home till October to use my homemade manometer. It is not easy checking the flame on this model of refrigerator. You have to look through a little clouded window to see the flame. To access the burner and jet you have to take out the refrigerator, turn it upside down, and take apart the burner box. A real hassle. If I can find a short two-stage regulator I may replace my one stage regulator if there is enough play in the copper line. I really don’t want to crawl under my camper van and change copper lines or extend them while on the road.

RE: Dometic RM2192 Fridge Problem

Thanks for replying. I can run it on the low flame without it going out. When I flip to the high flame it sometimes gets noisy and goes out. I had replaced the thermostat in 2015 and also again this April 2022. It runs well on low flame but I don’t get enough cooling.

Dometic RM2192 Fridge Problem

Greetings, This site was very helpful back in 2015. Problems with my 1984 Dometic RM2192 refrigerator. It’s the one with the stainless steel tubes and not the access panel. Running great and then the flame gets noisy and goes out. It will do this numerous times before I can coax it to work properly again. It will run great for days and then do the same thing again. Jet has been cleaned a few times. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Bob
