This coming October of 2023, my wife and I will have been fully retired for 24 years. I loved what I did working and made plenty of money doing it owning my own mechanical engineering operation. However, sold it and retired. I not really sure why I waited so long to retire but no grass has grown under our feet and we have been constantly busy with a large family, volunteering, Rv'ing much, Boating, and other types of travel and recreation. Have had lots of medical issues mainly for my wife. However, where there's a will, there's a way and she will not quit or give up even though handicapped nor will I quit doing the things we like either. Some people just talk about doing things but we actually do them yet albeit some to most things a little slower now, but we still do, go, and enjoy even though we are both in our 80's. We are not dead yet!

My wife doesn’t get to retire ….. either that or she’s been retired her whole life. I guess it depends how you look at it, but I’d say she’s as busy looking after me, the kids, grand kids and her mother now as what she was looking after me and kids for the previous 40 years. If I retire I think I’ll end up working for her instead of being self employed.

I retired the first time at the old age of 48 and then again at the young age of 62. I are 74 now and haven't regretted a single second of retirement. I got so much to do each day and wonder how I got things done round the hogan when I was employed for a living.

You said it yourself, you enjoy working, and that is fine. To each his own as they say. I retired at 52 and have not regretted it one bit. I describe it as it's a beautiful thing when you own your own time. I can do what I want to with it be it squander it or volunteer or do chores around the house or putter in my workshop or even go on a trip in the travel trailer whenever I want to for however long I want to. I look at it like I made room for a young'un to have a job. Life is good.

I retired at 60 when I realized I have enough money to last me till 100 easy ![smile [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/smile.gif)
Problem is retirement is boring,so I planted bunch o grape chery apple and other trees and plants to give me something to keep busy.
Also exercise every day when I have nothing to do.
And travel every year to some foreign country

That is really the best when you like your work. It is a goal of my life to do something i really like and that it brings me money at the same time. These days i've been very interested in automotive translation https://thewordpoint.com/services/transl........-service/automotive-translation-services and hope i gonna need that for my bright future. At the moment things don't go very easy, but i guess it is just my path and i need to take it.
