Sitting next to an SUV with that model designation.
Nice looking rig, appears to be in the same chassis as pickup. No plates out.

And although the base price of a new R1S is advertised to be $72,500, the least expensive one I could find on a nationwide search was right at $115,000. Just a little cray-cray if you ask me!

I see one on the road at least once a week down here near the headquarters.
Mostly the trucks though.

Is towing heavy a prerequisite to buy one? Most 1/2 tons just do groceries, soccer games, runs to Lowes and occasional boat hauling.
I've had trucks for work transportation since 1995. Only stated towing for recreation in 2010 after I retired.

I mean... this is posted in the TOW VEHICLES sub forum, so it seems like a legitimate question.

I don't think I've ever seen either model on the road but apparently we now have a local service center. Think the building was a Chrysler/Dodge dealer awhile back.

Maybe. But a lot of people tow light as well. Both the lightnings and Rivians have decent towing ranges when towing smaller single axle trailers. We saw one towing a [email protected] this fall on the Sunshine Coast. Never had a chance to talk to him. Think it was an American plate. He was coming off the ferry and we were getting ready to go on. Sharp looking little truck though. Kind of a darker green colour.

I believe Rivian is not yet installing the largest battery. Need max for significant towing.
Never going to have the single tank range of any diesel with the present battery technology.
