Apologies for the short response before - Hi the plan upto now is 3 weeks at each site thousand trails or naco, moving over the weekends from Florida across state , most of those site through researching can accommodate the larger fifth wheels

Size matters. Going down the highway there is little difference between 35 & 40' with your 3500 truck.
Campsite availability there is a huge difference. Most private CGs can cram the big ones somewhere.
The SP & NP availability is a whole nuther matter. Don't expect easy availability for the big trailer.
It comes down to priorities. Can't have it all in one.

I tow a 40 foot, and I realy don't find it much different than my 30 foot trailer. yes the 5th rides better but my overall lenght only increased by 2 or 3 feet. yes there are some places you have to book in advance to get a site you'll fit in, and the hight increase took a bit to get used to. and yes you have to pick your fueling places a bit better, but I have never had an issue finding one..

From my years of experience, don't go too small. I pull my Cedar Creek with a '05 Ram CTD dually with a 6 speed box. After racking up only 71k since I bought it new, and towing is a breeze. My 3rd hitch is a "Mountain Master" air cushion and I am totally satisfied. I had the roof and the Dometic refer replaced last year so I guess I'm good for another 20 years. Fingers crossed.

Think about it this way. The difference in length your talking about is likely about the same length as your arms spread out.
No real difference you will notice.

Two issues with a longer 5er....
One is weight....... does the truck have sufficient payload to handle 20% of the trailers GVWR as pin weight and the truck is within the trucks GCWR'
Two is site lengthh ...the longer length will be limited in site availability.

The OP was looking at RVs 36 feet and greater. At those lengths, the limited campsite availability will be pretty much the same regardless of the actual lengths.
Now if the OP had been deciding between 28ft and 36ft, then campsite availability would have been a factor.

In newer parks, the site length is not such an issue, but in older parks, 35 foot was a big RV back when they were built, and they will not have room for a 40 foot plus 5er. So, length is a major issue in some parks and should not be overlooked. It depends on the area the where they plan to travel.
