Last week I bought this 1976 Ford F-250 4-wd, gratefully it isn't a highboy. I really think I stole it after searching for another truck.
Body and paint a bit rough but very little to almost no rust.
Once I put my camper on my other truck I no longer have a PU. I've only taken the camper off of my truck once since March and I'll be using thru the end of November.
The truck needs a lot. Its been sitting outside for nearly 20 years. Started and driven a few miles about once a year.
It has a 390 2-bbl out of 1966 Mercury Monterey. Runs pretty good after giving it a tuneup.
Replaced a bunch of stuff like the grill, battery tray, dash pad, seat cover, brake/clutch pedal pads and some other misc stuff. Still have lots to go.

My new tires arrived Monday so I took some steel wool to the Dodge chrome wheels and then had the tires mounted and balanced.
I like it.

I used to have a 1969 F-250 with a 390 engine and a 4 barrel carb, that truck was a beast only got about 6 to 10 miles a gallon but the sheet metal was strong. You have a great truck.

Been waiting to see this thing since you posted about it first!
Looks real straight save for that one rear bed side. And I love the look of those tires!
Nice truck!
Not even a Ford guy and I’d snatch up a clean late 60s -late 70s F series and drive it proudly. One of my favorite truck designs

I had a 78 in the early 2000's. The biggest problem I had was the plastic panels inside the doors cracking and falling apart. Actually built wooden panels to replace them.

Nice truck Ken. I had an earlier 70’s F250 Camper Special that also had the 390 2 bbl engine.
How come that one’s not a highboy (divorced transfer case)? I thought those ran through 1977.5?

Thanks, I'm liking it more and more.
"highboy" was actually an option.
Yep, Ford dropped the divorced transfer case and the "power assist" power steering in mid year 1977.

I bought this 1972 F-250 Ranger XLT Camper Special back in Sept 2005 with only 31,000 miles on it. The only two options he didn't order was a limited slip and air conditioning.

It too had a 390. I installed a 428 CJ cam, a Ford cast iron "S" intake and a Holley 4-v off a 1966 390 GT. A set of Hedman headers and a good friend built me a really nice custom 3" exhaust.
Did you know the exhaust pipe on the camper specials extended further out from under the body that non camper specials??
