RE: Detroit road conditions

Take I-94 to I-75. There are no issues with going through Detroit. (Why have you went around?)

RE: MGVWR and problems titling trailer

A 31 foot, 3 slide trailer that weighs 8500 pounds - that doesn’t sound right to me. The 10,000 pound number sounds closer to me.

RE: What happens when you overfill tanks.....

The last flush I do before we leave a campground takes me 20 minutes or so...I’ll bet you’re a real popular guy in the line at the dump station

RE: Generator dB rating

You asked for input, rejected all the input, just go buy the Honda. What he wants will be too heavy no matter what color it's painted. That’s an interesting comment - I would say it’s a matter of perspective. I have a 4500W+ generator, it’s not to heavy for me, may be for you, that’s where perspective comes in. Each of us have our own perspective.

RE: Priming the water pump

Could be the diaphragm, could be the check valve, could be the seals… Buy a rebuild kit on line and hope that fixes it. Or you can spend about $15 more and get a whole new pump that will be good to go for about another 6 years.

RE: Florida State Park Reservation window changes

Snowbirds don’t stay at Fla. state parks, the max length of stay is 14 days. Nothing wrong with giving priority to the people that pay your salary and benefits.

RE: GPS tracker for trailers?

Who in their right mind is going to play hide and seek with a well hidden AirTag while in possession of a twenty year felony that is as big as a house?

RE: Trailer hitch height adjustment and chain question

Throwing Europe into the mix is a distraction away from the real answer. What he’s saying is, 10% or less is ok if your not going to exceed 45 mph. If you want to drive at a reasonable speed, your going to need a reasonable tongue weight. Most reasonable people would agree that’s not less than 10% for sure, and better yet 12%.

RE: Full Timing with Solar and Shore Power

How much money are you willing to spend today, to save $10,000 over 10 years?

RE: Full Timing with Solar and Shore Power

You are not going to full time, comfortably, for 8 - 10 years, on 400W of solar. You’re going to need to be plugged in regularly.

RE: Tire pressures

The label on the 5th wheel also likely has a tire size and type on it also. If the tires you put on don’t match the label, then the pressure listed on the label is irrelevant. Your best bet is to go with the tire manufacturer’s tire load inflation chart.

Did your Audi come with the 4 pin electrical pigtail connector or a 7 pin?

RE: Trailer hitch height adjustment and chain question

…Try to pack accordingly to keep the hitch weight under control. Front storage compartments are nice but if you are struggling with hitch weight maybe pack the light stuff up front…That is advice that can take you directly to the scene of the accident if you are not careful. It is worth mentioning that it is essential that you keep at least 10% tongue weight, and preferably 12%. Not doing so can be catastrophic.

RE: 2003 National Islander

Consider this. You buy the RV, insure it, and on the drive home it’s totaled. The insurance co. is only going to give you Blue Book regardless of how good a condition it is in. That may be a small risk but are you willing to accept that risk? Secondly, it’s 20 years old - that’s reality, things happen simply due to age; that’s part of a Blue Book value. What is it really worth to you? Personally, I’d offer Blue Book, if they decline, I’d give him my telephone number and tell him the offer will stand if he changes his mind. My personal policy is to never knowingly over pay for anything. I work to hard for my money to do that.
