RE: Chevy Silverado EV

And while towing a 10k travel trailer, would the range be cut about in half. Any real world road tests, I will make a search in a few days.
I am so out of touch with todays trucks. I had NO idea people were towing 10,000 pound trailers with half tons nowadays. That was firmly in the 3/4 ton if not 1 ton range when I was towing a fifth wheel. I learn something new everyday.Yes, you are a little out of touch. To start off with he said "travel trailer" (which is not fifth wheel). But over and above that, my 1/2 ton has a 2500lbs payload rating (2496 actually per door sticker), 11,000lbs max loaded trailer rating, and 375 hp. So yes, it will tow a 10,000lbs travel trailer and if I leave the wife home, maybe a fifth wheel also.

RE: How do you decide how much to spend on an RV

In my opinion, Wait a few months, you’ll be able to buy it at recession prices. The down side of that is your 2016 will be correspondingly worth less also. I’d say it’s not really an optimal time to buy a depreciating asset.

RE: Exhaust Fan

What is the function(s) of the circuit board. Knowing that is the key to making a sound decision.

RE: Just Joining The RV Life

Yes, my recommendation would be not to sell the house and all your belongings until you see if the RV lifestyle “works” for you, and what obstacles you need to overcome - oops to late.

RE: 2007 Fleetwood Mallard 20FKS specs?

You can estimate the tongue weight as 12% of the GVWR (12% x 6400 = 768 lbs). Realty is, 100 lbs either way ain’t no big deal.

RE: Dump Tank Extension Needed

If you can find a rod they use to use to pull awnings down with (before electric awnings), that could work also.

RE: Black Tank only holds 1/2 to 1/3 of capacity

Just because you empty the tank, doesn’t mean the sensors will read correctly after emptying. Even if the sensors are working properly, it may take awhile before they read the level correctly. If one or more of the sensors is not operating properly, they may never read correctly. Best bet is a flashlight and the wet mark on a stick dipped to the bottom of the tank to verify level in the tank and sensor readings.

… (as well as shining a light into the toilet with the valve open, and seeing liquid just below the floor). As for the flexible hose wand, that is what I use. If you really have water to just below the floor with the valve open, then suit up; because you are going to get really wet, dirty and create a big mess.

RE: 5th wheel purchase

Most 5th wheels have tongue (pin) weights of 20% or more. Generally speaking, and a properly rated tow vehicle, there should never be a problem towing a 5th wheel (barring mechanical or poor construction problems). Problems towing arise when tongue (pin) weights are 10% or less.

RE: Buying a new TT, questions on TV setup

If your maximum towing weight is 6200 lbs, you can potentially tow right up to 6200 lbs. The bigger question is what is the payload capacity of your truck, how much will the tongue weigh fully loaded, etc., etc., etc. You need to know all the ratings of your truck. You can tow right up to 100% of those ratings as long as you’re not exceeding any rating. Chances are, payload is your limiting factor.

RE: Ford files trademark for F200 pickup.

Lots of people complaining about automobiles being foisted on the poor horse owners and putting blacksmiths out of business here. I think TurnThePage’s post was dead on. Maybe it’s time to put the politics away on this forum and get back to campingNo one ever mandated that you could no longer buy a horse for basic transportation and had to use a car instead. Horses were put out to pasture by the public’s acceptance of the automobiles as a more viable alternative.. Conversely, officials are mandating that you can no longer buy ice cars for basic transportation, and are making EV’s the only viable alternative.
Point being - it's a false equivalence, horses were never outlawed and ice vehicles foisted on them instead.

RE: Steering problem...looking for ideas/causes

A tie rod or ball joint is not going to jump the steering 30 degrees and stay there. With that type of failure the steering would become totally uncontrollable. More likely a steering box problem. JMHO

RE: Fridge beeping

The fridge should be plugged into an outlet behind the fridge (access is usually from outdoors behind a panel). Did you check that outlet for 120V or to ensure the fridge was plugged in?

RE: New camper, first modifications!

Sense you added 5 additional outlets, keep in mind the total amps/wattage you are going to strain the existing wire which I assume is #14 that goes to a 15A circuit. Be on the cautious side when adding additional items. The LED will have little effect on the circuit. You won’t strain the existing wire. The wire is protected by the circuit breaker - that’s why you have circuit breakers.
