RE: Nascar Follies

Bumping someone out of the way or getting them loose is all part of the sport, yes. But running somebody down and slamming into them at a super speedway is a whole other level. Maybe not to the casual fan. Especially when they’re obviously having crash problems with this new generation car. Crashes have already ended one drivers career this year and there’s another’s in question at the moment. He’s lucky his hotheadedness didn’t cause a lot more carnage. Not to mention leaving the car, fighting, and hands on an official. He got off easy as expected.

RE: Winterizing Question

No need to drain pump and after winterizing you can open low point drains and let any water out and antifreeze will follow. Also don’t forget to take screen off city water connection and push check valve to let water out. Do this last after winterizing. Make sure pressrin system is minimal or you’ll get an antifreeze bath.

RE: WFCO WF-8955 amps in absorption mode

Thanks! All great responses and pretty much what I thought about undersized wiring. I’d love to replace the wiring and converter but it’s just not practical for a couple times a year that I need it. I’m probably just going to do what was suggested above and bring along my 25 amp charger to help it along. I tried it last night in the driveway and it does boost the voltage up.

WFCO WF-8955 amps in absorption mode

I have a WFCO-8955 (55 amp) that absolutely will not go into bulk mode even though it’s a 3 stage converter. Not sure if it’s inadequate wiring or an inadequate converter. It’s always 13.6-13.8 no matter the state of charge of the batteries. What I’d like to know is how many amps is it putting out in this mode. And don’t tell me 55 because we all know that ain’t possible! ??

RE: 5th wheel & Half-ton TV Thoughts

It’s a 5.5’ box which means it’s not a HDPP (they’re 6.5’) and doesn’t have enough payload or rawr for a 5th wheel. This is coming from a guy that tows a 5th wheel with a 1/2 ton that’s in my signature.

I used to have one years ago before automatic levelers. It did seem to help some but it’s long gone now.

RE: Do I need a better converter?

Ok I’ll try to give some more info. They are regular lead acid. First night they were 100% because it had been parked in my driveway plugged in for 2 weeks. I was charging for 2 hrs in the morning and 3 hrs in the evening. I did periodically shut the converter off to run a microwave but that was very limited. Probably 15 minutes total per day. I’ll have to look but I know I have a WFCO 8930/50. Trailer is 50 amp. There is a breaker that says converter. Am I right in thinking it is a separate unit?

Do I need a better converter?

Just replaced original 80ah battery with 2 100ah batteries. When dry camping for 3 nights the batteries were steadily lower after each charging during the allowed generator times. 1st night when fully charged they dropped to 60%. 2nd night they started out at 85% and dropped to 50% then 3rd was about 70% to 30%. I never saw higher than 13.7 when plugged in to my 2000watt generator. Haven’t looked at what my converter is rated for yet but am I right in thinking it’s just not putting the charge back in fast enough? Would a stand alone commercial battery charger that I have work better in the few times a year I dry camp? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

RE: Not one but two blowouts

Just wondering if you honestly checked tire pressure before leaving, since it was never mentioned. I’m not insinuating you didn’t. Just curious.

RE: Nascar Follies

No way. #1 Kyle Busch is 36. Hardly “advancing age” even by NASCAR standards. Not to mention he’s their flagship driver. 60 cup wins and 2 championships. He’s not going anywhere…..unless he wants to.

RE: Walmart 27DC….80 or 109AH?

I did just look at the website photo of the battery and it shows on the label: 109 amp hrs @ 1 amp
VS what I received which states 80 amp hrs @ 20hrs. I can’t find anything that states if these two ratings are just a number game or they truly are different.

Walmart 27DC….80 or 109AH?

I ordered 2 27DCs from the Walmart website yesterday. The description stated an amp/hr rating of 109. When I picked the batteries up they had hold stickers on top with my name etc. When I got them home and peeled the stickers off they had a rating of 80 amp hours @ 20hr on the label. They do weigh what the description states @ 50.2lbs each. I’m pretty sure Johnson Controls were making batteries for them and they have been bought out by Clarios? I’m not familiar with this 20hr style of rating either. There is some mention of this in some of the reviews but nothing more than someone returning the batteries for this reason. Did I get what I wanted or is there something more to this?
