RE: No more training wheels

I never felt a dually truck was a training vehicle I felt it was the smart way to tow a large fifth. Looks great sitting in our garage now.

RE: Awning misaligned when rolled up?

I had and helped others when there awning rolled up crooked. Pull the awning out.
have another person pull or if electric make the awning go out. Give the arm a push to the correct direction to make it go roll up straight. Very easy to over do. Go back and try again. chevman

RE: Chevrolet 6.6 burning oil

we had the 2001 3500 8.1 chev dually towing a 15K alpenlite. Friend with a 7.3 ford dually with a lighter fifth passed us as were sitting on a long hill wide area waiting for our MH friend to catch up. We waited for enough time that I didn't think we would catch up to our friend. Well we did very quickly and he was so slow. But he loved his truck. chevman.

RE: Ram 6.7 no start

In the old days if the head lights came on and went out as you tried to start the engine it was the battery. cleaning the terminal's sometimes fixed the problem or new battery was the fix. because of my wife's heart issues new batteries were purchased in the later years.

RE: Chevrolet 6.6 burning oil

If an 8.1 isn't burning oil, then it isn't running :) Mine takes a liter every 3000 or 4000 Km
the 2001 8.1 engine we had used a 1/2 qt to 1500 miles when towing a 15K fifthwheel. Not an issue for me. chevman

RE: Ram Cummins/Aisin Failures

I had a 70 2500 ford with the twin I beam front end. compare that to any new truck. I think I know the best would be a newer model of any brand.

RE: Chaning Differental oil ???

Our 05 chev dually with 116000 miles has had the rear diff changed 13 times. so easy to do I decided to overkill as I do on every fluid for this truck. chevman retired from Rving
Lol, I’d love to have the $1000 worth of used oil outta that truck. Probably closer to $700.00. no labor spent a lot more on the overkill fluid changes but with 116K mores it does run awesome. Looks great sitting in our garage. chevman retired from rving. "Don't frown because it is over but smile because it happened"

RE: Ram Cummins/Aisin Failures

Sort of crazy but I just saw Ram hot shot Dually on I-70.
I noticed it was a Hemi and not a Cummins and I thought that was odd?
What was he hauling?
When the ford 6.2 engine came out a couple behind us at our winter resort pulled in with the new gas engine towing a heavy Excell fifth. he told me he was tried of the power stroke engine's having issues. less power but they were so happy to a better engine. hope that turned out ok. chevman retired from rving

RE: Some worry about payload……

My friend had a heavy alpenlite. More weight than our alpenlite. His truck was a 1994 2500 dodge and the tail gate would fall down and he had to buy 3 new front basement doors because of the hole from turning with it down. He always said the bed would spread wider. I felt he was overloaded on the truck. chevman

RE: RAM 3500 with HO 6.7L Cummins SRW

for our combined 22,900 lbs. I didn't have any issue with a 5 sp Allison Duramax awesome truck. Not saying it would be great for a much bigger fifth but I was happy. No issues going down mountians. Now I get to look at it everyday waiting for me to get some fresh air. chevman

RE: New Tires

Because the tire you might need on the road to replace the blown tire tells me to buy the new spare then if needed you buy what you can get.

RE: Flushing water heater

You might want to introduce some white vinegar into the tank for a short period to help break up the calcium/lime deposits if they're bad. If you have the time to spare?
After we arrived home from 6 months in AZ I used 4 gallons of vinegar and 4 gallons of water to soak in the fresh water tank after running though all the lines with the water tank full. I always wondered if I was the only one doing this. retired from rving Chevman

RE: RV wind deflectors do they work we will see

Now, now, he said he didn't want to start a big discussion about his, ahem, 14+ mpg towing a 13,000 lb. trailer. Those overhead consoles can be pretty optimistic. I've seen mine show 99 mpg. :)
Yea sorry aboot that. ;)
If 14 was possible every truck towing would have one. chevman

RE: Not bad for 11 years and 240,000 miles.

We were coming home from California towing our 35 ft alpenlite fifthwheel North on the Siskiyou's going down a steep area under full control because of the Allison and the 8.1 gas engine and saw coming to pass us was a 1st gen with a camper. wind was blowing also so as it went by us I was thinking it was going to hit us because it was out of control and wandering badly plus big time body roll . Not as big of camper as the posts above. chevman
