RE: Jensen 19 “ tv remote replacement

Really, since you can buy a new 19" TV for 60 or 70 bucks, why make yourself crazy about pairing a new remote to an older TV? Just a thought. 70 bucks is a half tank of gas to my next fishing spot, just sayin.....:)

RE: blowing 15 amp fuse on Aux circuit

Replace the fuse with a temporary light bulb. When you then isolate the problem the bulb will go out. Or use a buzzer for a audio indication. This saves a lot of hassle replacing fuses. And don't overlook the obvious like the steps etc. There was a switch on the floor/right side when you first stepped into my Cambria. That switch told the steps to extend /retract depending on what position the door was in. It took me a while to figure out that issue. Well, when I pulled away from the curb and the steps were scraping the curb was when I first learned I had an issue. The pin was bent and my guess was from vacuuming.

RE: Rear Jolt on 2017 Ford E450 V10 with only 6,300 miles

My guess is something driveshaft related, either the slip yoke at the transmission connection, or on many long wheelbase trucks there is a constant-velocity joint in the center, or a carrier bearing there, that may have some play. I have experienced that on my 2500 GMC pick-up when towing my trailer. I removed the driveshaft and lubed the splines and it's been good for many miles. I had a clunk sound when moving from a stop. The OP hasn't said much regarding his experience with all things mechanical so hopefully something said here helps.

RE: Rear Jolt on 2017 Ford E450 V10 with only 6,300 miles

Something mire intense from the rear. So has it done it again or was this an isolated incident. If it is doing it regularly I would have an experienced mechanic take a ride with you to help out with the diagnosis. keep us posted.

RE: Rear Jolt on 2017 Ford E450 V10 with only 6,300 miles

Sounds like the rear end is wrapping up. This happens when too much torque is applied. When brakes are release, the rear suspension twist is released. Common area is center bolt in spring, shackles, torsion bars and spring perches. Old school: When a u joint is in question we would put the vehicle in gear, hold the brake down firmly and push the throttle down slightly to apply pressure to the joint and listen for a click. Also effective when checking motor mounts to see if the engine lifted off the broken rubber mount Is this what you refer to as wrapping up?

RE: Rear Jolt on 2017 Ford E450 V10 with only 6,300 miles

try this. Start vehicle. put in neutral. release foot brake. Apply foot brake and put transmission in drive. Is this what you felt? Ok Will try. If I do feel a jolt from the rear what does that mean. Transmission problem. want to figure out what you consider a jolt. From neutral and putting a vehicle into gear it will move forward. Is that what you are feeling or something more intense.

RE: Rear Jolt on 2017 Ford E450 V10 with only 6,300 miles

My 07 Toyota Tacoma with 67K miles on it bumps forward after sitting at a complete stop for 10 to 15 seconds. It resembles the bump you would feel if it was in neutral then with your foot on the brake you put it in drive. Haven't found an answer to that one. It doesn't have a dip stick to check the trans fluid, weird. A friend of mine who ran a trans repair business for 35 yrs once told me that torque converters can do weird things. My 06 GMC Duramax, once it sits for over a week in the garage, when you first start it will not move once you put it in gear, it takes a few seconds. My tranny guy said drive it more often. 110K miles presently.

RE: Is there a preferred oil for the Ford V10 E-450?

Kirkland.(Costco) is now offering their own oil. who is bottling it for them. I agree with grit dog that regular maintenance is the key. napa and WIx are the same filters, made in the same factory. Baldwin for HD applications is a good choice. If you choose to have your vehicle serviced by the quick lube places ignore their wanting to change your air filter @ 35 to 40 dollars a piece. drive to your local auto parts store and get one for a fraction of the price. I am here to save you money. As far as the preferred oil? IDK.

RE: Removing cabinets

I removed a small cabinet from my TT and it was no more than a 1x2 with plywood stapled to it. On many builds cabinets are installed over the existing walls. I doubt they offer much to the structural integrity of the trailer. As far as exploding, learn how to read the date codes on your tires, they explode and would cause significant damage to your rig.

RE: Rear Jolt on 2017 Ford E450 V10 with only 6,300 miles

Bottom line is you/someone needs to crawl under and check the whole rear suspension. I would sure not drive it until verifying the issue and if serious, fix it now. Even if not serious fix it now. Could be the center bolt in the spring broke. Look down the sides, is the rear axle tracking the same . Check lug nuts if you had recent tire servicing.

RE: Radius shower

I really enjoy the radius shower, I have the glass enclosure and the latch they use needs replacement. Can't locate one. when my trailer was built they ran the heating duct ( silver tape slinky thing) and then installed the shower. The shower was shoved up against the duct rendering it worthless. Little if any air came out. I modified it myself but it only gave me heat in a limited area. I know shower pan thread but as Paul Harvey would say" there's more to the story" good day.....:)

RE: What's needed for sewer hose storage

We use a 5" vinyl fence post, best solution I have ever found, all fitting also fit. https://i.imgur.com/Fqv16a0.jpg width=640 https://i.imgur.com/ikLAe9v.jpg width=640 https://i.imgur.com/kLmWcT8.jpg width=640 This is the best idea i have seen. I have a round tube that the former owner installed that is useless. Square looks much nicer.

RE: Share your favorite

Toyhauler, basically any of them. And if you don’t like the seating, you could literally load a sectional in it thru the 8x8’ rear door. Agreed. And the "garage" is a great place to get together if the weather goes south AND the roof is pretty tall. Mine has two fold downs for the dinette and a nice sleeper sofa/couch that is comfortable. ( I had them reupholstered and new foam)X2 on a toy hauler. That may be my next camper and I won't be hauling toys I have a work n Play by Forest River. There is a full screen that can be pulled down with the ramp open. Some owners choose to use the tailgate as a patio, there are screened in accessories or side screens to let the pooches outside or nice to put out the lawn chairs and feel the breeze. At the racetrack they back them in and they make a great viewing area if you are trackside. ( drag racing is my thing) . Wheel the bicycles inside and keep them out of the weather. With the e bikes becoming popular easy to load and tie to the floor for transport. motorized chairs another option.

RE: Strong urine smell in bathroom

Every time i use the toilet i spritz with a cleaner that has bleach in it. Dump the pee without using water, spritz afterwards. At home I have a dump station. i mix bleach, dawn and foam it up in a bucket with a paint mixer attachment on my drill. Pour the foamy mixture and let it sit, then dump it out. Always keep the valves closed when hooked to the sewer at a campsite, dump when your tanks are full. With a flashlight and empty tank look in toilet. See any buildup? Keep water in tank always. And the bag of ice in the black tank to break up the mound has been proven to be a myth. I also use a bleach spritz in my grey water usage.

RE: Is Warranty Forever a good deal?

I think you'd be much better off banking the $350 a year and putting it towards any repair needed. My TT is middle of the road quality wise. Had I bought a warranty like that it would have been a complete waste of money. I never buy extended warranty's. At this point, even if I have a major repair on anything we have, I am money ahead. These warranty company's make a lot of money playing the odds. Totally agree with this. I decline all tire warranties and am in the ballpark of 350 dollars ahead after replacing one tire myself. Having 4 vehicles that get tires replaced the dollars add up quickly. Life was ok before extended warranties and will be after they are declined. Consumer reports says 73% of extended warranties are NEVER used. To me they are like time shares...you pay and pay and get very little.

RE: New need advise

Absolutely have a mobile rv mechanic inspect anything before you purchase. A few hundred now may save you thousands later. An Rv will shake itself loose. I have a book i keep on the table and write down everything I need to look at or repair before next trip. Rv's are not maintenance free, far from it. Now, those items are usually minor that I like to keep up on so they don't become big items. Rent one! See if this is something you want to drive through tight campsites or along two lane roads. Drive it down the interstate and see how it feels when big rigs pass. Back it up, all those fun things to the new camper. Take your time and get plenty of advice and anytime you see a salesman on the lot moving his lips.....well...he may not be telling the whole story. ( that was being polite) Ohh yeah. extended warranties..... they are a joke. self insure. Whatever the warranty cost....add that to a savings account and pay the repairs yourself. todays engines and drivetrains are very reliable. Don't believe the nonsense "if your engine blows up or your transmission fails....they seldom do. As was mentioned, have an expert examine for water damage. Take your time, ask questions, talk to those you see with an RV you like, they will be most helpful I'm sure. Full time. RV's can get small real quick.Look for one that you can keep the necessities and still have living space. Slide outs help a lot.
