RE: Predator gennys?

I don’t understand the issue with heavy generators. I just load it into the bucket on the tractor and put it in the truck :S

RE: 25% better mpg from current diesels? Too good to be true?

Someone's going to say it, so it might as well be me: Getting rid of the poorly-executed emissions equipment on these engines would accomplish the same thing without an expensive fancy piston. actualy I don't think anyone was going to say it because it doesnt make any sence. emissions may be a garbage set up but they do lower emiaaions, if you take them off emissions will go up so taking them off will not do anything aside from a little bit better milage as the expence of more emissions. there has been a Canadian company testing these pistons in the engines they remanufacture for almost two years and here are there results "During testing, DFC Diesel observed fuel consumption reductions of 25% or more with factory tuning, an average of 5% increases in torque and horsepower, NOx reductions as high as 80%, and the ability to extend oil change intervals by 50% due to decreased soot and fuel dilution. Observed benefits also include reduced regeneration cycles, DEF consumption, and visible exhaust/opacity, along with noticeably smoother and quieter operation." SteveThere is more than the cost to measure value. Being able to increase range by 25% is worth something. If it increases pollution, it’s worth nothing.

RE: Kanab, Utah 84741

If you can swing it, Kodachrome Basin State park. It’s about 2 hours away, but you wont be disappointed.

RE: What part of Unsubscribe don't you understand?

What the “Unsubscribe” button is designed to do and do well is to CONFIRM that the address they have been spamming is a GOOD address and will continue to be used. NEVER use an unsubscribe button.

The good news is that if you run the Ike, you’ll probably be passing cars on the way up!

RE: Spare Tire Mod

Years ago in a previous trailer, it had an undermount spare. We were going to a remote site in the NorCal Redwoods. The last .4 mile into the campground was a 10’ wide “path” where at one point the redwoods on both sides were less than 1’ of the trailer. So we always stopped at the entrance to scope out the “path” to see if anyone was coming as there was no place to pull off and let someone pass due to the close proximity of the trees. As we were there, a pickup pulls up and asked if we lost a tire. I look under the trailer and the spare was gone. The cable holding it had snapped. Now the lucky part. The tire was in front of the axles. When it fell, it must have remained completely flat to pass under both axles. Has it tipped up, it could have flipped the trailer. That would have been quite a ride.

RE: 2023 Ram Reveal

You know that if you damage those mirrors, it will be $1,000 to $1,500 to replace (or more).

RE: Hot Water Recirculation Loop - Save Water - Camp Longer

First, I have installed a recirculation/conserving system in my campers since 1995. Second, the water should return to the cold holding tank. If the water was hot at the faucet you don’t need to recirculate it. The reason to recirculate is to get hot water to the faucet and return the cold water in the line to the tank, Third, I use a cheap inline irrigation valve ($10 to $12) and a $2 doorbell button. No need to go to specialty valves and pumps.

RE: heavier trailer tires and fuel economy

It’s pretty well known fact that trucks that switch from lighter P tires to heavier LT tires always lose on mileage. Is it the heavier tire, the stiffness of the tire or tread pattern. Who knows.

RE: Bedding Brakes

What bedding the brakes does is to transfer a microscopic layer of brake material from the pad/shoe to the disc/drum surface. This is accomplished by “repeatedly” heating the brakes and letting them cool in a prescribed method as directed by the manufacturer. Greater friction is generated from brake material to brake material than from brake material to cast iron. If you believe that you are more knowledgeable than the manufacturer, good luck. It’s always done on race cars as braking is somewhat an important thing.

RE: Bedding Brakes

Not bedding the brakes works 99% of the time, BUT that one time when you absolutely need maximum braking to avoid an accident, did you think that maybe I should have bedded the brakes properly? BOOM!
