RE: Axle and tire?

GY Endurance made in USA is what I have after 2 Westlake tires blew that were 3 years old with 5k miles.

RE: Another heated water hose question

Most campgrounds have it in writing that you must disconnect the water hose in below freezing temps, or you will be responsible for the repairs to their hydrant.

RE: Vanleigh shutting down

I just saw that too, so sad to hear that people are loosing their jobs. The repair and warranty division will continue to operate which is good since I had two blowouts this summer and have an appointment in March.

RE: 2023 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon

Jerry, yes the good old days, I wish I could forget trading my Dodge Super Bee for a Chevy Vega due to gas prices, getting married, and long commutes to work. Grit, I agree that the 4.3 was a little beast of a motor I had in a 1985 swb Chevy 4spd granny 4wd truck.

RE: VanLeigh by Tiffin Fifth wheel

I bought a 2019 Vanleigh Pinecrest mainly because the factory is one hour from me, but have only been there once for minor punch list items. My wife checks the Vanleigh FB page and they seem to have the same problems as most other brands. A month ago I had two blow outs (WestLake) and will be taking it in for repairs.

RE: Truck starts on its own

I came out of Lowes the other day and my truck was running, and wondered how I managed to hit the start button twice in my back pocket.

RE: Rockwood & Flagstaff

Looks like a nice couples floor plan, and at 8k dry and 10k wet the towing would depend on the tow vehicle used. I would opt for theatre seating instead of a couch unless another bed required.

RE: Gulf coast trip

I've only stayed at Sugar Sands RV and will be back for sure.

RE: Two blow outs in one day

Thanks pianotuna, I agree going to 16" and LT tires works good for 5.2K axles, and I think sitting in my driveway helped kill my tires in three years. Have I said how much I like theses new GY Endurance tires. :)

RE: Two blow outs in one day

I had a 2012 Cedar Creek Silverback that I installed Bridgestone Duravis R250’s on and they were great. Thanks for all the post, I feel better now knowing it happens to others too.

RE: Two blow outs in one day

Process of elimination, I drained the water tank to 1/3, 80psi always, the first tire that blew never sees the sun when stored, I drive 65, I never saw a road hazard. I do tow a few inches nose high and that increases the weight on the rear tires. Trailer axles weigh 8740 lbs have not weighed them separately.

RE: Two blow outs in one day

Thanks, there was no major damage just the plastic fender skirt and lower metal. These were 225-75-15 tires, and I eventually want to go to 16" if I have enough clearance above the tires.

Two blow outs in one day

This was Sunday 9/18, I knew better but thought the Westlake tires at 4 years old and only 6500 miles would make one more trip WRONG. First bomb was left rear at mm 49 on I40 heading to Gatlinburg Tn, replaced with spare on entrance ramp, and almost turned back but went on hoping to get there and buy new tires. I always drive at 65 and thought I could make it. The second bomb was right rear at mm 366 just 40 miles from destination at 7pm, and after AAA and GS could not find anyone I found a truck service that had a new Kenda spare on a wheel. He charged me 3 hrs minimum for a 60 mile round trip and $250 for the tire/wheel, but I had no choice other than spend the night with trucks flying buy at 75mph. The good news is Monday I found a tire shop (Goforth Tire) in Sevierville Tn that had Good Year Endurance and took two at a time from the rv park and finished all 4 by lunch. These GY Endurance are heavy and very sturdy tires, and glad I found them locally. If you have Westlake tires please get them off now, you don't want to go through what I did.

RE: Lippert six point levelling jacks

OK,, really appreciate the feed-back guy's!!! Just to "idiot-proof" this when I pull on my lot with the truck still connected I should,, -place the 10x10" wedge blocks under the three jacks -manually lower the front jacks to disconnect the truck -jack up the two wheels and put the 10x18" wedge blocks under them -then hit the "auto level" and crack a beer,,,,,am i right? again thanks for your help! The first thing I do is chock the trailer wheels, then disconnect and move the truck forward enough so that when the trailer self levels there is no chance of the pin box hitting the truck bed. On a front to rear sloping pad the front legs will retract pretty far to achieve level.

RE: Trailer sway milestone 377mb

I would check the front and rear sway bar mounts on the truck.

RE: Trailer sway milestone 377mb

Go to a scale first, and then start checking wether the problem is the truck or trailer. The roads these days are pretty bad and a 42' trailer can cause problems if not loaded right.

RE: My new-to-me 2018 Ram.

Dang, glad your insurance came through. Were you towing or did it happen when parked?

RE: renting a 5er tow vehicle

I used Enterprise truck rental when mine was in the shop, but they did not have one with a gooseneck ball, only 3/4 ton with bumper 2" ball.
