RE: Power Steps Not Working

My buddy has a class A that he had that problem all the time... He was very faithful with lubrication also.. He went and got a piece of aluminum sheet and we fabricated a bottom and side "cover" to protect them from road debris while travelling. That new cover stays on 100% of the time. With proper lubrication and that cover , he has had zero issues so far.

RE: GVWR versus GAWR

^^ what they said ! The best bet is it so scale it and see exactly what is on those axles while loaded.

RE: Nascar Hall of Fame - Charlotte, NC

I was there a few years ago without the fifth wheel... I would NOT wanna drag my camper through downtown to see the HOF.. BUT, that's just my opinion. If it is a MUST SEE, find a lot on the outskirts of town and UBER in.

RE: 1/2 Inch Drive Corded or Battery Impact Wrench

Took me longer than a lot of other people, but I am firmly in the battery camp now. I got a Milwaukee M12 battery impact wrench last year, and Wow. Hard to believe how much better it is than my air impact wrench. I got the "shorty" one to get under my mowers, so it doesn't even weigh all that much. Look into getting a "system" where the batteries can be used with multiple tools like drills and saws. Definitely battery over corded. I picked up a "almost new" Milwaukee M18 3/4" drive impact gun with a battery and charger for $200.. This is a great addition to my tools as I have ALL Milwaukee tools as it is.. I use it on all maintenance projects that include removing the wheels...

RE: using a cargo carriers on my travel trailer

I found out just how bad of an idea it was B4 learning about this site.. I put a 4 bike holder on a bumper mount bike rack of my 1997 Wilderness TT.. Going south on RT13 in DE, I looked in my rear view mirror to see a rack with 3 bikes skirting across the highway into the medium. I told my wife, look some poor sap lost their bikes.. I was lucky they did not hit anything, or anyone. I stopped and had to toss everything into the bed of the truck and inside the camper... what a mess :S PS - I had 1 adult and 2 kids bikes on there at the time

RE: Ram Reduces Max Tow Ratings

Just watched a youtube posted by RV miles talking about Ford reducing ratings on some trucks already sold. Look for new stickers in mail. The "new" stickers will not be mailed.. According to my dealer, its treated as a warranty item.... Once the new sticker arrives at the dealer, you schedule a visit there for them to remove and replace with the new one.

RE: Calc. Turn Radius w/Truck + 35' 5er

In MY opinion.... way too many contributing factors to answer properly.... Good luck with your search..

RE: Ram Reduces Max Tow Ratings

Many folks tow over their max authorized gross weight tow and payload ratings so is possible Ram is protecting themselves by reducing the max tow figures as a safety fudge measure and protection from lawsuits. Maybe should do this for other trucks. Just saying. Ram is good, hemi is good, all is good. Great combination. Except for that one pesky thing….they haven’t lowered the tow ratings, based on at least 3 different documents….considering I’ve been sitting in a hospital caring for my wife for the last 2 weeks, I have time to look up stupid stuff like that to kill time…. BUT TFL guys only make money if people are watching them and waiting for the next episode. So to consider a couple goofballs who have somehow made a living driving from Denver to Silverthorne round trip in every truck made for the last however many years as factual is a bit remiss. Gotta be a salesman to sell stuff and they sell “information” and yoo toob clicks. Geeze Grit, I'm sorry to hear about your "better half" ... I hope she recovers quickly and you 2 get home soon !

RE: What's cooking this weekend?

^Hey Joe...just fly out to southern Ca, have Ron pick you up. He's not too far away, and likely going to Dave's food fest anyway. I can't make it, due to short notice, and other commitments. Have a fun weekend Dave! Jerry I will not be too far next weekend, ill be in Phoenix Friday-Monday .. but I’ve got a pretty busy schedule next weekend

RE: What's cooking this weekend?

I stopped at Smart & Final on the way home from work last night and picked up twenty pounds of pork butts to smoke, five pounds of chicken breasts, dozens of tortillas, and a few cases of beer. I still need to go back out and get the rest of the ingredients for tacos plus all the stuff to make the smoked queso dip. Saturday is going to be a big taco feed at our place. Darn……. When should I be there, and where should I go? :)

RE: Used 6-point levelers to change a flat

Darn, youu shredded that tire.. looks like NO RV damage as well ! ! Well done.. As far as jacking, that is what I have been doing for all maintenance.. I carry 6" square blocks of wood x 10" long to use under jacks IF the spot is really out of level so I do not get an " OUT OF STROKE " message . .

RE: RV Campgrounds Near Rehoboth Beach

Thanks everyone. Can anyone vouch for any of campgrounds listed? I have stayed at Big Oaks in the past and it was nice.... I stay at Delaware Seashore State Park several times a year... You have to book 1 year in advance IF you want a holiday site, ... or weekend site.... Hit or miss for other times of the year... Its very popular and sold out usually

RE: Old truck, new look…

Man Grit, I LOVE the looks of that truck ! !! Keeping it old school looking is a good plan, at least I think so. You can't go wrong with those old steelies ! I bet that wheel/tire combo will sling some mud and do some humming while rolling down the asphalt. :C They’re a new twist on old wheels. Back in the day the sizes were 16”, 16” or 16”. Or 16.5s a few years before that model. Now Detroit steel wheels and US Wheel make “big” steelies. My 82 had 16" steelies on it before I swapped them for some cheap aluminum wheels.. Went back to steelies after I bent 2 while off roading, after all, thats what 17 year olds do....

RE: DISCUSSION: 8 ft + crew cab vs. SUV

I have been towing for 30+ years and can honestly say the Long Bed is so much better. You will not notice a HUGE difference solo from a Short Box to a Long Box, other than a bit better ride with the Long Box because of the longer wheelbase.. What I like MOST is the fact that the LB can get the 48 gallon fuel tank.... That in itself is awesome for travelling . . .

RE: 2023 camping season

I wish MORE RV folks would 'cut back'.. ha, ha... That would make it easier to get reservations at the parks I want to go to.. I can't just pick up and go on a whim.. I do not wish to just "camp" in a parking lot type of park. I was paying $6/gallon gas last season, so I guess since eggs are now $3/dozen, I might just have to make smaller omelets on the Blackstone! :) Mitch https://i.imgur.com/XG8H0uzm.jpg?1 Hey Mitch...where ya gettin those $3 doz eggs? Walmart here is $5.80 doz! Is it possible to make a 1 egg omelet??:) I don't get concerned over gas prices, in fact, when towing, most always use pure premium. Jerry Most stores around here actually have a 2 carton LIMIT on eggs... like people can afford to pay fpr 3 + cartons ! :B
