RE: Denver and surrounding areas

It's been a few years but we've stayed at PepperPod campground in Hudson, CO northeast of Denver a couple times. 450 5th Avenue Hudson, Co. 80642

RE: I70 to I 90 on hwy 13 out of Utah

Just pay attention to the trucker signs on I-70. That is a long descent into Denver.

RE: Oops… Went to buy Newmar then saw a Newell.

I've had 2 Newells. A 39' 1993 no slide and a 45' 1998 with 2 slides. Both were big steps above others in quality and construction. But like anything else condition is everything. Newell's are all custom built so you can't expect 2 different ones to be similar. A 2003 will probably have the Series 60 Detroit diesel with Allison World 6 speed transmission, a great combination.
Look at www.newellgurus.com for all of the info and expertise you need if your friend wants to consider a Newell.

RE: Diesel Pusher losing power

When you lose power is the exhaust blowing black smoke? If so it could be the turbo going bad.

RE: Monarch Pass WorkaroundHeading west from Poncha Springs

Hwy 114 is much easier than Monarch. There are some slow curvy sections on the north end but not difficult. I've done it many times in my 36'DP towing full size truck. And MUCH less traffic. Mostly local farmers.
Yes construction on Hwy 50 is still ongoing with full nightly closures except weekends. Typically about 30 minutes to an hour wait. Rough sections on east end with no concrete but pilot car so it's slow.
Hwy 92 is the official bypass around Hwy 50 construction but it is much longer with many curvy sections on the east end which follows the Black Canyon.
You won't save any time going 285 to 114 then back up to 50. There is no way to get around Colorado without going over the passes. Safe travels.
Yes the 50 construction should have been done last year. But may or may not be done this year, probably will go into next year.
Pay attention to the nightly closures. Our cabin is in the construction zone and our community is stuck here at night.

RE: Colorado Route 149

If you go from 149 then east on 50 into Gunnison you'll avoid the road construction. You'll still be able to access the Blue Mesa reservoir, which is almost full.

RE: Arizona highway update...

Good to know. We passed that way heading south in March and the roads were bad.

RE: Reroute Lot Sewer Pipes

Not sure if Canada has this service but here in the states you can call 811 and ask the local utilities to locate their underground lines for you. Then if you hit one it's on them.
Here is Canada: https://call811.com/811-In-Your-State/Canada

RE: How to transfer large video from phone to computer

Try emailing it to yourself. You'll get an error message but it should allow you to upload it to the cloud and then download it to your computer using that link. Assuming you use gmail.

RE: Take our RV to Colorado or Store It?

What about leaving it in Cortez? That would get it closer but not yet in the mountains.
Hurry back, the snow's great!

RE: Roadtrip by car vs RV, a couple of thoughts...

Our story, after traveling for about 12 years in the motorhome we bought a cabin 1300 miles from our house. We leave in late May each year and spend 3+/- days traveling there in our Roadtrek 210P van. Then drive home in late Oct. or early Nov. Then in Jan. we drive the Tahoe to the cabin for a month or two.
It's much nicer traveling in the van, we can stand up and stretch, use the bathroom, fix lunch, and have our own beds. Occasionally if the weather's bad we'll stay in a hotel.
Interestingly we get the same fuel mileage in both. In the RT we're driving 64mph and the Tahoe we'll drive the speed limit. But the way our trip is it will take 3 days at either speed.
It generally costs less in the RT since we're not eating out and not staying in hotels.

RE: Fire Cube Gen 3

I've found in the past years that smart TV's don't always update the apps. I use Roku's for that reason.

RE: Time to Paint the RV - Who's good at it ?

Xtreme paint and graphics in Nacogdoches, TX does fantastic work. They're usually very busy. They also have a free apartment available for people having multiday work done.
They've done repair work on my Foretravel and also a full repaint.

RE: Aqua-Hot in Cold Weather - Issues with Performance?

Which controller do you have? Silver one? or the newer one from Aquahot?
There was a black controller (I think made by Spheros?) that was problematic. The newest one from Aquahot should be better but expensive at ~ $1000
There is a guy who rebuilds the silver boxes, can't remember his name but he is on ebay.
