RE: Question for TEXANS- Class A non CDL

From what I've read, many folks are unaware they need something other than a regular driver's license if their trailer/truck weighs over a set amount. Obviously if you never get stopped, there's no issue. It's like Dirty Harry says: "Do you feel lucky?".

RE: 30amp surge protector on 50amp line

Due to the differences in wiring between a 30 amp cord/plug and a 50 amp cord/plug, you'd best be served getting a 50 amp EMS.

RE: Creak when reversing the fifth wheel

Probably 7,000 lb. axles I'm thinking. The GVWR is around 15,000 lbs. I think.

RE: Creak when reversing the fifth wheel

If you have greaseable wet bolts, then they should be accessible without pulling the wheels. Some builders put them on the inside, so you might not see them right off. While Red and Tacky is wonderful for the zerks, B&W does recommend lithium grease for the saddle mount, as Cummins recommended above. Creaking while backing/turning isn't too concerning, it's the bang that I would try the hardest to locate.

RE: purchasing from dealer with a hail "freckled" sidewall

I have to agree. If there is hail damage on the sides, I'd be checking the roof very carefully.

RE: Creak when reversing the fifth wheel

I prefer Red and Tacky for grease. There is a grease zerk on the underside of the hitch head, and the rubber supports for the head should have some grease put on them. Also a little grease on the inside of the jaws where they contact the pin is a good idea. Is it a slider hitch? Have you checked the tightness of all the bolts? However, I think your problem lies with the trailer. You don't say what it is, what size it is, or how old it is, but I would be checking the suspension if I were you.

RE: Lithium battery 800ah

JMO, but I don't think you'll be getting an 800 AH batteries for $800. :) That would maybe get you a couple of 100 AH lithium batteries. 800 AH lithium batteries are going to set you back a couple thousand dollars, at least. Not cheap.

Just media fodder from the politicians.

RE: Ram Cummins/Aisin Failures

We can be exact with numbers, but not with years? Late model implies several years, this issue seems to be limited to 1 year, and mostly last quarter. What's wrong with being precise?

RE: Ram Cummins/Aisin Failures

So this is for specifically 2022 models, not "late models"? From my reading it appears to be 2022 and mostly last quarter builds. Not quite the sky is falling, and it does seem to be covered by Ram, or did I miss where people are having to pay for the failure out-of-pocket?

Ya gotta love it, anyone who disagrees with me isn't open minded and a censor. LOL

RE: Go Pro camera

Try using your phone camera before you buy anything extra. BAD IDEA. Cameras on smart phones are very susceptible to get ruined by motorcycle vibrations. I know this because I'm a motorcycle rider who has seen other people have their phone cameras wrecked because they mounted it on their handlebars. A GoPro or another action camera idea is best. I mounted one on my helmet Here's one video of mine from a few summers agoThat's possible I guess. Not seen any damaged, but I suppose it could happen.

RE: Go Pro camera

Try using your phone camera before you buy anything extra. You will likely find you're not really going to watch those movies anyway. :) I put one on mine, and watched the first couple cause I thought it would be neat. But I watched a couple, but never did really get enthused with it. An older GoPro can be had for not a lot of money. No sense in spending big bucks for the latest and greatest until you decide if you'll stick with it. Used ones are common, because people thought the same thing as you, and found they didn't use it much after all. :) Check Facebook marketplace for a good place to start.

RE: Automatically connect windows 10 PC to open WiFi?

I don't worry much about public wifi, use them pretty much all the time. But even I think connecting automatically to any open wifi is not a good idea.

RE: Ram Cummins/Aisin Failures

Those videos are horrible! nothing but repeat the same sentence from what I can see. He can cut both of them in half time wise, if he would not walk around the truck blabbering about nothing at all. Got two minutes in, quit watching. The link to the 22 page sticky came up after I looked at fish's second post..... Still, this guy needs to get to the point sooner than later. I gave up on both at about 2 minutes. My 02 on these video's. Marty I wanted to quit but I really wanted to see these AISIN failures. But as usual bashing a non subject.Hey, it's a nasty job, but someone has to do it. :)

RE: HDT/MDT tow vehicles alert

One thing about political agendas, they are always open to change as needed. Seems very unlikely that 2027 is carved in stone. When they see the goalposts can't be reached, they simply move the goalposts.

RE: Ram Cummins/Aisin Failures

It's a problem with a bad batch of Aisin transmissions made around late 2022...read all the info here: https://www.cumminsforum.com/threads/2022-aisin-transmission-failures-information.2576640/So most of the 5th generation Rams, 2019, 2020, and 2021 don't have issues? Hmm from the sky-is-falling post to open this thread I thought it was all the years. Who knew? Oh well, maybe next time.

RE: Ram Cummins/Aisin Failures

Sort of crazy but I just saw Ram hot shot Dually on I-70. I noticed it was a Hemi and not a Cummins and I thought that was odd? With gas a dollar a gallon, or more, cheaper, about the same mileage, a little lower maintenance, why wouldn't you see more gas engines? Just makes sense to me.
