RE: thinking of buying a Motorhome....looking for tips/hints

buy quality, built cheap to sell cheap is why many buy, but then we get to pay and pay.. We over bought when we bought our Newmar, but after 22 years, we still love it.

RE: Towing a Jeep Cherokee

If you have a transfer case lever that says High-Neutral - low you can place it in Neutral and tow with 4 down.
how well it tows is a different story.

RE: Willamette Valley to Whidby Island

I am planning to pull my 18ft trailer from the Willamette Valley in Oregon to Whidby Island Washington. Does anybody have any route advice?
Should I take Hwy 507 and 512 to avoid Olympia and Tacoma? Should I stay on I5 even though I'll probably end up in stop and go traffic?
My wife is saying we should avoid using the ferry at Port Townsend. Does anyone have experience with taking their trailer on the ferry?the ferries are not a problem,, my suggestion is I-5 to OLY, then Shelton and up to the ferry

RE: Towing Motorhome

We have had our couch towed three times, they removed the drive shaft each time. It is to protect the transmission.

RE: TPMS question

I would advise to avoid the flow-through sensors. They are pretty much a PIA, as the flow rate to add air is very slow. I remove the sensors to add air because of that reason.
We took the sensors off too. They were more trouble than they were worth.

RE: House Battery Disconnect Not Working

It appears that all your terminals should be cleaned.
But if the fuse is blowing, that means the electromagnet is shorted.

RE: Valve stem extenders for inner wheels (DRW)

The valve stem extenders that came on my motorhome leaked and the inner tires went flat on me. I took the extenders off and put a TPMS system on. No more flat tires since doing that 6 years ago.
Our TPMS Leaked so we removed it.

RE: Is there any REAL quality out there?

There are several 2000 to 2008 Newmar motorhomes that are well equipped for that price range.
We have very little problems with our Newmar Maintain Aire.
to avoid the typical quality stuff you must stay above the luxury level.
Just remember there isn't a cheap motorhome.
and never buy from a dealer, , we found ours in a park and sell lot.
22 years later we think we got some divine guidance
Is Newmar by any chance owned by Thor or built in Indiana? I just want to avoid anything coming out of there. Way to many horror stories... Sorry not trying to insult anybody... :)
Lots of stuff happened in 2008 starting with DEF. industry standards, company policies, and the THOR take over..
That is why I stay 2000 to 2008 are the better coaches.

RE: Valve stem extenders for inner wheels (DRW)

Can anyone recommend a good product for a dually inner wheel valve stem extender? What are the downsides of using any of these, if any? Thanks!
I don't use extenders,,Valve cores come in many sizes, have your tire dealer install one that will extend far enough to air the tire .
