RE: External Fuel Tank for Generator

If you can't do this test yourself, find a mechanic who will locate the line from the gas tank to the generator. Disconnect line at the generator, then have him cut the line close to the gas tank. Use about 40 lbs. of air and blow through the line towards the generator, if stuff comes out then the line is clear. If it wasn't clogged in that section of line, then blow the line into the tank. Then use a union and hose clamps to join the two lines together. They should be clear, so hook up the line to the generator and give it a try.
Tried this, but no dice. External fuel tank on order.

RE: Need Help Playing Apple Music in My RV

In my car I use my stereo's AUX function and connect my iPhone via it's bottom power plug with a 3 mm adapter.
In our RV, the stereo has a USB port which connects via my iPhone's bottom plug.
Last resort is Bluetooth.

External Fuel Tank for Generator

Several months ago I found out that the fuel line to my Generac Q-55G was clogged. I've looked into replacing the fuel line, but it would involve dropped the RV's gas tank. My local service guy (who has done this on other RVs) looked into dropping the gas tank on my 2001 SeaView, but gave up. Apparently, it's an "over-engineered" RV. Too complicated and labor intense.
Anyway, I nearly gave up fixing the generator until we crossed the Southwest this summer. Just let me say that my RV's dash air wasn't up to that cooling task. Never again.
So I think I'm going to install a 5 gal external gas tank for my generator. Anyone else done this?

RE: Wireless bluetooth thermometers?

I'm looking for a good wireless blue tooth thermometer to monitor the interior of the motorhome for our dog while we're out during the day.
I use a Ruuvi sensor.

RE: Help with Refrigerator Decision

We had the same issues as the OP . . . we went with a 20cf Whirlpool from Home Depot to replace the 18cf Norcold.
We couldn't be happier with our decision AND we boondock regularly.
Cptnvideo's power setup:
- 1600 watts solar
- 5 SOK 206AH LiFePo4 batteries for 1030 ah

RE: Class A Motorhome Gasser

I had a 2004 with a 8.1 and Allison transmission and while both performed flawlessly, the ride quality, especially steering, was awful.
On the other hand, our new to us 2001 has a V10 and ?? transmission which drives like a dream.
Best to base your buying decision on how INDIVIDUAL coaches perform, not generalities.

How To Adjust a Crooked Power Gear Slide out

Just started happening . . .
One side of our slide out went out crooked. To keep the side out even, I had to push on one side from the outside while my wife brought the side in.
The same now goes for pushing one side OUT.
This is getting old. What to do? We leave on a long trip Sunday.

RE: How do you sanitize your fresh-water tank and lines?

According to Captain Phab's MSDS, it contains between 80 - 100% sodium percarbonate (aka "oxygen bleach").
So that other 20% is anybody's guess.
However, since Captain Phab can go as high as 100% sodium percarbonate, then you would save a lot of money by just buying generic:
- Captain Fab, 450g (about 1 pound) = $39.85
vs
- Sodium Percarbonate (10 pounds) = $49.95

RE: How do you sanitize your fresh-water tank and lines?

Never done it in 14 years - I can visually see up close both ends of the fresh tank and it is still spotless
My eyes aren't as good as yours. I can't see bacteria.
BTW, cith water has chlorine in it and apparently this is enough to do the job…
All campgrounds don't have chlorinated water supplies.
OP, I think most folks, including myself, sanitize our RV water tanks periodically. Once or twice a year for me.
I use either bleach or Purogene. Bleach is cheap, but caustic as hell. Purogene is pricey but easy on people.
For a typical 50ppm bleach sanitize, it's 1/4 cup bleach per 15 gal of holding tank capacity and let sit for 4 hours. For a stronger (100 ppm) concentration, it's 1/2 cup bleach per 15 gal and let it sit 1 hour.
Finally, you'll probably get some interesting rationale from folks who never sanitize their water tanks like . . .
- "I haven't gotten sick yet." (Also a popular excuse for smokers.)
- "I used to drink out of a water hose when I was a kid" (What this has to do with tank sanitation still escapes me.)

RE: Full Time Motorhome

I'm looking for specific make and model recommendations, not general info.
What about a Winnebago... what models have W/D connections?
You'll have to do the heavy lifting.
However, I did a quick search on PPL Motorhomes and found 29 of 99 Class A gassers had some sort of W/D hookup.
For example, this 2006 National RV Dolphin has W/D connections.

RE: Inverter Upgrade

How hard would it be to power all the 15 and 20 amp breakers on the load center? Just want to power the outlets, possibly the microwave.
Since you have 50A service, you can just bite the bulllet and power ALL your outlets using a Victron Multiplus II inverter/charger.

RE: Prevost developing an electric coach.

A 250 mile advertised range, most manufacturers say run between 20-80% for best battery life so basically a 150 mile range. So our 1 day drive to the races now will turn into a 4 day trip.
It looks like these Prevost electrics are intended for mass transit, not cross country, like Nova Bus.

RE: General Quietpac 75D Stopped Running, won’t start

…….And being a diesel I’m sure the system would need to be primed.
Check out Test 28 - Check Fuel Supply in the Quietpact 75d Diagnostic Manual.
It's similar to the Onan diesel gen Fuel Pump Test which says . . .
Disconnect the fuel return hose from the line to the supply tank and point the end into a container of known volume . . .

RE: General Quietpac 75D Stopped Running, won’t start

Fuel pump or hose to RV gas tank could need replacing.
Testing the fuel pump is fairly easy . . . disconnect your gen's fuel hose. Then connect another hose that's inside a gas can. Start your gen. If your it runs, then it's probably the pump.
NOT on an RV generator no... The fuel pump on most RV generators is external (in-line type) and if you disconnect it and stick a hose into the gas can no gas will flow up into the carb.
It worked on my gen.

RE: Dipping my fuel tank

I'm in the same boat, but I'm having a local shop do the work as they've done it before.
The shop uses 4 jacks to slowly lower the tank -- even if it's full. But remember that diesel weights 7 pounds per gallon.
Good luck.
