RE: Unbraked trailer, towing limitations

Actually it makes good sense. If you add a 2000 lb trailer to a 8000 lb tow vehicle that is 25% more for the vehicle to stop. Are you willing to follow 25% farther from traffic to ensure you can stop in time?

RE: Rusty Dometic Pilot Light? What dangers lurk ahead?

That area usually rusts first because the flame compromises the galvanizing. If some of those rust flakes dropped into the burner tube it can prevent proper burning. I can't tell from your picture but is there gas going to the burner tube?

RE: Refrigerator is dead

You checked the fuse. There are probably more than one fuse, one on the board and one in your 12 volt panel. Which did you test and were you testing for continuity of the fuse or 12 volts at the output of the fuse?

RE: Cleaning the awning

I use Amazing Cleaner by Bio-Kleen. Spray it on. Wait a few minutes and rinse.

RE: Towing a fiver with a 9' flatbed

There isn't a standard for height or distance from the pin to front of the trailer. There are many different pin boxes made and they are all different. They are also adjustable for height. I know my trailer sets farther from the truck than many of the others I see. It is 91 inches from the front to the pin. My height is 47 inches.

RE: Rubber Roof Replacement

So you want us to speculate on what you saw going the other direction while you estimated the cost to fix???

RE: Do you pull your taillight housings monthly?

My 2007 NBS is currently in the body shop to have the box sides replaced because of the wheel well rot. The owner brought up this very subject. It is very easy to do so I will try to make it a habit once I get the truck back.

RE: renting a 5er tow vehicle

You don't say what year his trailer is but I have found that the new trucks are too tall for the older trailers so if his trailer is pre 2010 or so it might not work with the newer trucks.

RE: 2007 OKanagan 117

The check valve is frequently part of the pump. Some times it is some dirt in the check valve and you can clear it by using it to pump some of the water back out of the tank. Some times the pump needs to be disassembled and cleaned, and some times it needs a rebuild.

RE: 1988 Citation Supreme 25 RK-5th manual?

Useful manuals even for new RV's are non existent. The best you are going to do is get the model numbers off all the appliances and get the manuals for them on line.

RE: no power to 12 volt battery with shore power'

I agree with kill switch. 13.6 Volts is charger voltage. A battery will read about 12.7 volts by itself.

RE: 2003 Forest River Cardinal 29WB

We have a 2005 Cardinal 30TS (triple slide). We really like the layout which is similar to what you describe but the third slide containing the kitchen. While I have done some upgrades over the years it still looks and operates like new. We like it so much that I would not consider updating like many of our friends have done.

RE: One brake over adjusted

Something is not right here. If the brakes were not adjusted right either at the factory are later they would not wait 1500 miles to overheat. Are you sure that you don't have a bearing problem?

RE: What's the real scoop on propane tank re-certification?

My local propane dealer is the one that did mine. When I went in for a fill I knew it needed recert. so I told them so. It cost me an extra 5 bucks. They really didn't look at the tank very closely. It seems to me that if they are not afraid to fill them you get the sticker and another 5 years.

RE: 2021 rockwood fifth wheel creaking

I would lube both the landing gear and the suspension. Either one could cause the creaking you are hearing. Don't assume the worst until you take care of the easy things.
