Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge fall camping?

Looking for feedback from others about the best time to take our RV down to the Smokies and camp for a week or two. Last time we visited was the summer of 2019 and the weather was at least 90% humidity with 95 degree temps EVERY day. We love the area, and are wondering if we would be happier staying there the months of September/October??? We could also go in May, but the fall would be best for us personally. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't there be a bit less traffic & congestion camping when the schools are open?
Also, what RV campgrounds would you recommend? We stayed in one just off the main road to the National Park last time but would prefer somewhere quieter & more scenic this time around. All comments from experienced campers would be appreciated!

RE: New Super Duty on order

In tow mode at highway speed (with our 4.30 axle) it almost always is in 10th gear. Towing our fully loaded 5th wheel, we are getting about 9 miles per gallon if it is not too hilly. Hope this helps!

RE: New Super Duty on order

We just finished our 1st year towing with a F350 Lariat SWR with the 7.3 gasser. Our 5th wheel has a dry weight of 12,175 lbs. & is almost 35' long. The truck does not struggle towing our rig at all - the 10 speed automatic transmission will downshift when pulling uphill, but that is normal for this truck. All of our axle & payload weights are within specs, and the ride is downright comfy! If you keep your travelling weight less than 14,000 lbs. you should have no issues. And yes, a good hitch will give you an extra margin of safety. We also had to wait almost 7 months before our '22 Ford was delivered, but the wait was worth it! BTW, it does suck gas. You won't be passing too many gas stations when towing. Have fun!

RE: RV Wholesalers - reviews/opinions wanted

RV Wholesalers? First of all, they are not a wholesaler at all. They offer discounted pricing to draw people in from all over the country, and then you MUST finance with their people to get the "deal". Things may have changed since I dealt with them over 10 years ago, but the one thing I would say is never ever special order a unit from them. Our experience was disappointing to say the least - wrong cabinet wood, no PDI to speak of, wrong interior color scheme, many interior quality issues. After waiting months for this particular unit & travelling over 5 hours to get there, I did not stand my ground like I should have and took the TT home. The lack of communication between the salesmen there and us led to most of our issues - they could have been dealt with much sooner over the phone or via text/email. I know others have had a much better experience with them, but as for me and my family, never again!

RV Flex Armor

Getting up there in years, and my sense of balance being compromised by a mini-stroke years ago, I am seriously thinking about investing in the sprayed-on Flex Armor roofing system. By doing this, I hope to minimize or eliminate having to get up on my roof to inspect everything. Anybody know about this product or have had it applied? It is a significant investment, so any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!

RE: MorRyde IS & Disc Brakes

IS = Independent Suspension. A more controlled, comfortable towing experience from what I've heard. The Disc Brakes are going to happen - Safety First - but the suspension upgrade is what I am struggling with. Just not sure if it will be worth the extra 5 grand or so. I know people who have put shocks, timbrens & even sumo springs on their units instead of swapping out the entire axles/wheel assembly. Any other thoughts???

MorRyde IS & Disc Brakes

Looking for feedback from other 5th wheel owners who have invested in the suspension/brake package offered by MorRyde. Is the upgrade worth it? We will be travelling long distances once I am fully retired next fall, and after visiting their company in Elkhart my wife feels that the improved braking power & smoother ride will be worth the extra 8-9 grand, but I am not too sure. Are there other options we should consider? BTW, a long RV road trip up to Alaska is in our plans within 2 years. We are thinking of getting the work done next summer BEFORE the Alaska trip. All responses will be appreciated. Thanks!

RE: Just Asking

Way back in 2008, sold our 1st fifth wheel in early October to a gentleman who drove more than 100 miles to check it out. Gave him a deal to take it off our hands before putting it into storage ahead of the nasty Michigan winter weather soon to come. Price it right, cast a wide net, and the right person may just come by regardless of when you list it.
BTW, I have not yet been accused of being mentally unstable, at least not recently! Good luck with selling your rig.
