RE: Diesel to Gas Power Observation

I watched for 5 minutes, but couldn’t bring myself to waste an entire 20 minutes on this. I’m never one to give much credence to anecdotal statements about what is selling or what isn’t. As I am generally interested, I’d love to see real sales numbers of what the breakdown is of diesel vs gas in HD trucks (as well as 2500 vs 3500 sales). I know you used to be able to find that, but I haven’t seen it in a while. The truck that they bought is a pretty truck. But I really can’t see buying a DRW with a gasser. I hope they are happy with their purchase. I wouldn’t be. I see a lot of Ram 4500/5500 Ram Hemi powered trucks. Just seen a fairly new Ram 4500 flat bed with a welder on the back with a Hemi badge on the fender just a few minutes ago. A few years ago Ram HD's were essentially all Cummins powered, but I've seen this trend towards gas for a few years now. Which leads to the next question. Since there rumors that the Hemi is going out to the pasture what gas engine will Ram utilize? Gas powered Cummins that soon will be released? Cummins is developing a 6.7 gas engine and Ford designed and released a big block 7.3 for a reason.

RE: Diesel to Gas Power Observation

I continue to see more and more 3/4 ton Ram Hemi's on the road and I'm starting to see some 7.3 Super Duty's on the road as well. I suspect this trend will continue as this couple have made the change for their towing needs. LinkIt is not suprising. Gas is cheaper right now. I have been driving diesels since 2000. The price of diesel vs gas has swung back and forth many times since then. Twice there was a pipeline problem and gas just wasn't availible. There are two constants. Gas propenents will always crow about how smart they were when gas is cheaper, and fall silent when it is not.... And diesel ALWAYs gets about 30% better MPGs I want to say since ULSD hit the market, diesel as been ~$0.60/gal more than gas with the exception of the last two years. As for GM gas trucks I've always seen a lot of them in the HD line for years, but with the 6.6 gas paired to the 10 speed that increasing trend may happen.

RE: 2024 GMC and 2023 Super Duty

Plus Ram is way overdue to update their HD trucks to the new body style. You mean like ford on the last LONG run??? Yep just like Ford that is long in the tooth.

RE: Old truck, new look…

REALLY like the truck, not a fan of all that white tho. Maybe if they were black??? My 86 C20 2wd had white wheels and caps. I remember that exact truck heading down the highway when it was new with a 6.2 Diesel, man that was the ruck I wanted!!! I remember riding with a friend in his brand new 84 K30 SRW 4wd crew cab 6.2 going to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the engine threw a rod and put us on the side of the road. I remember the truck had ~800 miles on it.

Looks like a loaded Denali DRW 2 wheel drive tops out over $100k. Link

RE: 2024 GMC and 2023 Super Duty

^^^ It’s not posted as fact anywhere as far as I know….. it’s just me thinking it’s pretty tough to compete in a 500 HP/10 speed market with 420 ponies and 6 gears. "the 2023 Ram is apt to take a big hit in depreciation when the ‘24 comes out with 8 gears and 480 horsepower / 1200 lbft of torque." You will lose credibility by making these type statements. If you would have said guessing, or if, in that remark, you wouldn't be providing false info. Yes, you did clear that up, after being confronted. Jerry OUCH!!! That even hurt me Jerry!!! :B He is actually the one that said the 6 x 6 is just fine and would not make much difference with more gears. As mentioned WHY in the HE!! change when you have combo's that do the job reliably. I will repeat, I tow way more weight than most anyone here at 35k combined West Coast and have ZERO reason to want more gears or power. I have owned both trans and I love them both. The one you felt inclined to install a after market oil pan or the one on the shop floor? I'm confused... :B The 68RFE https://i.imgur.com/aE8Re2ml.jpg The almighty Aisin that doesn't break https://i.imgur.com/zuGMIpQl.jpg

In before the "RAM doesn't need more gears" comment...... It sure would help with improving fuel economy.

They are both incredible. Which one did you order Fish? He is a "Closet RAM Guy" :B Just recently posted a video of the 2023 2500 Rebel with it's new mirrors. Didn't generate any interest.

RE: 2024 GMC and 2023 Super Duty

My daughter ordered a new Bronco coming up two years ago and we still haven't got a production date. Maybe if you order a new Super Duty today you'll have your 350k miles on the '12 by the time the new one shows up.:) You may have your daughter check with the salesperson because there are certain options that will prevent the vehicle from being built.

RE: 2024 GMC and 2023 Super Duty

We recently ordered a new 2023 F350 with the 7.3 gas engine for our farm work. It will be interesting to see how many months it will take to be delivered. Having said that my original plan was to run my current truck to ~350k miles and I'm at 255k miles. I haven't seen these trucks in person, but if I were to pull the trigger on a new truck today it would be a F350 SRW with the HO 6.7PSD.

Here's the new Ram Rebel HD. I like the hood and the new mirrors. Still not a fan of the large vertical screen. Overall nice truck that's been showing it's age and is about time for the new design. Link

All I will add to all this diatribe is that the real advantage of EV's is efficiency. Charge time is not efficient.
