RE: Tips on how to hook up at an extreme angle?

After reading all the comments, I sure am happy we have a 8' bed on our dually.

RE: I-77 WV

Oklahoma is ridiculous for 5 axles and they don't care what the 5 axles are under. I bitched at the toll taker (which of course did no good) and told her that I could disconnect my pickup from my tag axle MH (not current RV) before driving thru the toll booth, and pay for 3 axles and 2 axles and save quite a bit of money.

RE: Best app for spam blocking

Answering like businesses do helps to reduce spam calls.
Instead of answering saying "Hello", say "Bill's RV Service".
I would love to answer spam calls with "FBI, Special Agent Banks", but that might be illegal. :(

RE: electric RV appliances

When we bought our current RV, we wanted to boondock 75% of the time (and sold the house becoming full timers). So we outfitted it with a large solar setup.
But in reality, it is more like 50% or less. The issue is holding tanks and needing heating or cooling to be comfortable.

RE: Best spam blocker app

Answering be saying "Hello" tells the telemarketer/spammer that they have reached a private/personal number. I answer any unknown caller with "Joe's Bar & Grill". The caller usually hangs up immediately.
Sometimes I answer with "Mel's Mortuary, you stab 'em, we slab 'em".
In all seriousness, the Hiya app works well for me. My phone never even rings for most of the spammers.

RE: electric RV appliances

Not positive, but I think all electric MHs have been offered for some time now.
We have lots of solar and battery capacity, a residential fridge and one of the 3 A/Cs is also a heat pump. But we still have propane stove/oven, water heater and furnace. While we could manage (even while boondocking) without propane, I really wouldn't want to. By the way, we are full-timers, so we have to think about all 4 seasons when it comes to heating and cooling.
A lot of this can be blamed on the push to eliminate fossil fuels which is ridiculous to begin with.

RE: Toy Haulers with lowest ground clearance

If I read your post correctly, you want to be able to go up the ramp with your wheelchair.
One possible alternative would be to have a pair of cable extensions made so the ramp goes about halfway between level and contacting the ground. Then add a pair of ATV ramps (like for loading an ATV into a pickup bed) to the end of the toy hauler ramp. This would make the slope very gentle but LONG. This could be a problem in RV parks where you would be backed up to a wall or another RV.

RE: Solar Power forTrailer

Pretty much what StirCrazy said. I would go oversized on a MPPT controller because adding solar panels and batteries is fairly simple.
SJ-Chris suggested 150 watts solar for every 100 ah of batteries. I can agree with that as I have 160 watts per 100 ah.

RE: Survey: impact of weather and fires

We have changed plans 3 or 4 times this year but not due to fires or high temperatures. But we have tended to sit at higher elevations in Arizona due to the heat.

RE: add another MPPT

Magnum also makes a 100 amp controller, the PT-100. They will communicate when used in multipole. Usually just adding multiple controllers will work but they work better if networked.
As for getting 200 amps into a battery, it needs to be capable of accepting that much current. As it charges it will take less and less charge.
Victron also makes a 100 amp MPPT controller. Mine is the 150/100, 150 VDC, 100 amps for 1500 watts.

RE: 100w panels

I have seen more than rated power once. End of May at 7500' elevation in Arizona.
So, it is definitely possible to see more than rated output.
I might add that partly cloudy days yield a higher "peak wattage" for the day. I assume it is because the panels have a chance to cool down a little during cloud cover.

RE: Where is my shoreline charge controller?

The original converter (now unplugged) in my Solitude is located in a dead space behind the pass thru compartment, right next to the transfer switch. A panel in the pass thru has to be removed to access.
So your converter is unplugged because you have a new one that replaced it? Or does the battery charger plug into the inverter?
Thanks,
I have an inverter/charger and a solar controller. The charger portion of the inverter/charger is almost always turned off since the solar controller normally supplies enough amps to keep the batteries charged.

RE: Scotty I need more power!

That's what you said. You said you wanted more amp hours so you only needed to run the generator 2 to 3 hours per day instead of 4 hours.

RE: Scotty I need more power!

I hate to put a damper on your thinking. But more amp hours can help you get thru the night, etc. But those amp hours still need replaced. In other words, generator run time (or some other means like solar) will still be the same.

RE: Scotty I need more power!

I made the first reply to your initial post and mentioned SOK batteries. My point was if your 100 ah batteries are about the size of car batteries, you could replace them with 206 ah SOKs for 412 ah (more than double what you have now) which is more than the 270 ah BattleBorn for less money.

RE: Winegard and sim cards

We have the Winegard gateway wifi router. We went with Verizon for internet via the gateway. But after having super slow internet in 2 locations in spite of good cell signal, we went with StarLink.
