RE: Reasonably decent towed vehicles for a Class A

A lot will depend on how comfortable you want to be once you unhook whatever it is your towing and drive around. We looked at a lot of smaller vehicles and decided on comfort, so bought a 2015 Cadillac SRX in 2015. After setting it up with Blue Ox and a braking system, have had about 40,000 trouble free miles dragging it behind 4 different motorhomes.Absolutely. We had an opportunity to buy the current toad all set up and did so. It big and heavy (5400) but fun on the beach etc. Only dropped GPH 0.1 vs the CRV but sometimes in life you just hold up the credit card.
Live moves on and we are going to sell the MH/car.

RE: Flashing light under sink 2011 303BHS travel trailer

Let play guess what that random beeping light is….
Emblethen had a couple great guesses but those aren’t typically “hidden” IE inside a cabinet like the OP described.
Who’s next? Deal me in - Could this be some electronic system like a charger or inverter?
Or HW that was drained? :@

RE: Reasonably decent towed vehicles for a Class A

Problems can occur when towing that existed at mfg. An excellecent recent example is death wobble due to EPS which has less damping than hydraulic steering. Do extensive homework on any car because even as a DIY setup is expensive.
Tom is correct as toads represent a very small market for mfg and that market is quickly ignored when other factors are considered.

RE: Reasonably decent towed vehicles for a Class A

The Dinghy Towing forum is better suited for your question. Perhaps do some searching there. FMCA and Motorhome magazine both publish towing quides. CRV up to 2014 can be towed. My current Jeep might be heavier than you want. Both of these cars have automatic trannys.
Flat towing also involves a tow bar, base plate, aux brake, lights and possible charging line.

RE: Wfco8930/50

Recommend you do a energy audit to determine your usage and then you will have a goal to what you want. But certainly you can install a Li and see what happens. Just keep in mind that there is no free prower with Li, what you use has to be replaced just like flooded.

RE: Wfco8930/50

Likely a starting battery. 2x GC2 would provide 220Ah.
For minimum gen time with a Li battery you need a good charger that's designed for Li. Flooded battery chargers are 3 stage and many hours are required to fully charge plus best if only discharged to 50%. Li can be discharged to 20% or even lower. Then with a compatible charger they can take the full charge to 100%.
WFCO are well known to not charger to the absorb state (about 14.4V) so sure they will charger a Li overnight for example. There may be some models and/or installations that do better so understand what you have and what you want to accomplish.

RE: My Power does not turn on fully.

Bad batteries can/do cause so meny different and often very unusual symptoms. Yet few RVs are unaware of this and overlook one of the most simple and basic tests to eliminate that possible issue. So yes excellent input.
And 1 day old batteries can fail, sure not as likely but...

RE: My Power does not turn on fully.

And a 26 year old RV has had repairs and likey modifications etc. Posting make/model info can be helpful. Also a good idea to take a lot of pictures of everything.
The salesman solenoid is a latched solenoid that draws NO power except a brief instant when it changes states.. This is not and different than the battery boost swithch which provides a temporary connection between the two battery banks and is intended for starting with a weak chassis battery.

RE: My Power does not turn on fully.

The salesman switch (that is what you are describing right?) operates a large solenoid that disconnects much of the DC which should immideately come back on when you press the switch. Check the solenoid as they become pitted from switching DC loads.
Battery charged is an interesting thought as the charger should not be switched but maybe it's been changed. And have the batteries load tested as a possible issue.

Many don't. 62 for me in CA. OK I'm one of the many! CHP pass me without a glance.
And 62 in AZ where 75 is the minimum errr maximum.

RE: Wfco8930/50

Li charging is unique and for the best results use a good lithium compatible charger. Many may say WFCO isn't a good charger even for flooded.
Consistent with WFCO the wiring may be to small for the length and you might want to upgrade the wiring from the charger to the LI battery. Locate the charger closer to the battery if you can. Fuse any new wiring.
Then depending upon you "new" power needs other wiring updates could be considered. There are a lot of variables depending upon what you want to accomplish now and perhaps in the future.

RE: No DC Power after shutting down generator

Contact the mfg and make sure. Fuses are sized to protect the wires from over heating and causing related problems. What's protecting the wiring now?
I would measure the DC amps and wire size to be sure the lack of a fuse is the correct choice.
Yes I'm skeptical of dealers and mfg and suggest you should also be also. Their primary goal to often is for problems to exceed the warranty. And when it doesn't warranty repairs are often low priority.

RE: ignore automaker's suggested towing speed

And then there is the press. EV fires get a lot of news because the fires are difficult to put out and the resulting picture is newsworthy. But do they every report on the numbers? Everything I've read indicates the per 100,000 vehcles ICEs have much more frequent fires.

RE: ignore automaker's suggested towing speed

Speed is also a safety factor. A slight variation in the road, wind, etc can have a larger effect on stability and should be a consideration.
And yes everything that the mfg publishes about a vehecle does involve their responsibility and libiality. But also our safety.

RE: Flat towing with your truck camper

We had a box brake that worked well but with more frequent stops it was just one more chore. Eventually we switched to a build in brake. Out of the way and no setup as it was activated by the wiring harness.
But otherwise my box brake models are dated so can't help.
