RE: Surge protector

The PI HW50C has a bypass switch on the remote, but then no protection! The Ground/Neutral bond plug can be made for $3, or bought for $10. Keep the protection. Generators CAN fail. (After the warranty expired, I opened my inverter generator and bonded the back of the receptacle itself.)

Is there a battery disconnect switch?

RE: Champion 2500-Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator

We were boondocking recently next to a guy who had a Champion generator. Couldn't hear myself think when he had it running. Was this an open frame generator or an inverter. I have two 2000 watt inverter units and they are both very quiet. I combine them when I need to run high power stuff but most of the time we run one of them in eco mode. That is enough to charge my TT batteries after running the furnace all night. To tell you the truth, I didn't notice. All that I noticed was that they were Champion.

RE: Generator Camp Security

I just don't leave mine sitting there. I am there if it is running. If it is not running, it is in the back of my pickup.

RE: Why Is My Air Conditioner Squawking?

Last summer I occasionally heard a HARD thumping in my A/C after it had been running about 15 minutes. Did it 3 or 4 times, then stopped. When I got home from the trip, I went up and took the cover off. A squirrel had built a nest in it. He had gotten a thrill ride a few times, then moved.

RE: Low Water Pressure

What wa8yxm is saying is this pressure regulator should be avoided like the plague: https://static.grainger.com/rp/s/is/image/Grainger/22D142_AS01?$adapimg$&hei=804&wid=804 width=320 But this pressure regulator is fine: https://static.grainger.com/rp/s/is/image/Grainger/36JA76_AS01?$adapimg$&hei=804&wid=804 width=320 He is correct.

RE: Battery Light on Monitor

What is "voltage at rest under load"? I thought "at rest" meant "no load."

RE: 30 Amp VS 50 Amp

Hi, I love my hybrid inveter charger. It allows me to run fridge, roof air, and microwave. One needs to monitor voltage, however, because load support is NOT voltage support. That is very nice, but not helpful for the OP who doesn't have a "hybrid inveter (sic) charger."

RE: valve stem extenders

Any tire shop should be happy to install the metal ones for $$$$$$.

RE: Pressure Reducing Regulator Setting

Twenty years ago the recommendation by ShurFlo was 45 psi. Today, it is 55 psi.

RE: Cam lock spins

Some camlocks take circular holes. Other camlocks take double-d holes. If the camlock needs a double-d hole but only has a large circular hole and the gasket material that was holding it fails, you need a more secure mounting.

RE: adding on/off toggle switch

While you can put the switch on either wire and it will work, it is safer to switch the red wire. That way, if the device somehow grounds out, it won't have power to short. Very small risk, but non-zero.

RE: Low Water Pressure

Turn on the water pump and see if the same thing happens. If it does, the problem is in the trailer. If it does not, the problem is the supply TO the trailer.

RE: Best Fridge Type

As long as it is propane/120v, I will be happy. If it happens to be propane/12v/120v, that is fine. I will just never run it solely on 12v.

RE: 30 amp camper/50 amp plug and cord

The question remains, hypothetically speaking, if I was on the road could I plug into the 50 amp receptacle on the pedestal without damaging my trailer Yes.

RE: Charging batteries with a small generator

You should be able to camp for days on one battery with a gas refrig. My experience is that you can get one night per battery. When I camped with one battery, I had to recharge every day. When I upped that to two batteries, I only had to recharge every other day. (Solar greatly extended that however. Later, much later.)

RE: 12 volt fridge in TT

As long as the battery is sufficiently charged during that 2% of the time that your converter/charger is not working, no problem. If the battery is NOT sufficiently charged, or runs down, the fridge will stop cooling. However, as long as the fridge door stays closed, it will stay cold for hours, so, no problem. If it stops cooling, and stays off long enough for the fridge to get warm, you will have to throw out spoiled food. Even your old gas/electric fridge needed 12v power to run. It must have 12v to power its electronics even when running on gas. So, it was no different.
