RE: VIDEO of a seriously impressive solar system.

“ Run time will be determined by the air conditioner power draw and battery capacity….” Consider too that it’s often concurrent with solar harvest - batteries, as a intermediate storage reservoir.. 3 tons

Some questions: When first experiencing the problem, were you on park power or generator power? What size is the air conditioner? Please define ‘house breaker’ and rated amperage…

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

Throwing gas on a fire will just get you a bigger fire. Great point, I was unaware that providing a counter point (to the claim that ‘buying stuff’ is what’s causing inflation …) was equivalent to throwing gas on a fire - Next time around I’ll try to demonstrate higher level of subject sensitivity… 3 tons

Wow! Not sure who is insulting more eloquently here….lol My bad :( if it came across this way as no insults were intended - I do in fact get the jest of his point which (say, for the broader audience…) warrants deeper consideration - Economics can be a terrible dry subject - It has even been said that Economist exist in order to make Astrologers look good :) !! 3 tons

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

For those unfamiliar, here’s a clip of Milton describing the true cause of inflation, and BTW, it has nothing to do with folks buying goods except when these goods are in relative rare supply (demand up bidding occurs)..Dear Milton (RIP) hits on the REAL cause which might only perceived as a ‘phenomenon’…As previously stated, it’s not that the cost of things keeps going up, it’s that the value of the currency keeps going down - in the form of a deliberate indirect hidden tax - thus, no phenomenon is to be found… For a better explanation, start Milton at about 5:30 in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ4TTNeSUdQ 3 tons

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

I have total respect for uncle Milty (of the Austrian School of econ), yet what’s missing is the all important context, and note that he was not in every case 100% correct, as evidenced just prior to his passing he recounted just how wrong he was when advising Nixon to ditch the gold standard, but this just misses the point on what inflation is, why it exist and why as unlikely it may seem, most folks actually benefit from it (while voicing their complaints! ), much depends here on who’s financial oxen are getting gored - lol… As inflation keep’s *bidding-up the price of things, home prices go up (as do folks estates!), while justifying higher wages and COLA adjustments, and inflation helps ensure that mortgages in their latter years get paid back with cheaper (depreciated) dollars, while for others, well paying jobs are lost (as inflation is seemingly combated by Gov’t, and in industry..), while hitting especially hard those living on fixed incomes (inflation, a thief that comes in the night!)… * a key feature of ‘Rentier Economics’ (e.g. non-production based rent-royalty, service based - an appendage of pre-industrial medieval economics, rekindled post WW II…)… Truth is that inflation is just another form of a planned tax (indirect, thus hidden..) that if taxed directly (as with the pre-revolutionary tax on tea!), folks would demand a sudden repeal…This is the actual means of how ‘promises’ are made… A great discussion! 3 tons

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

Well, consider that different folks are often at different stations in life - I prefer to see my house drop in value just to reduce future property tax increases - a rise in value goes me zero good whatsoever, but that’s just me :) 3 tons Inflation, while a monetary phenomenon, is not possible without people like you who pay the inflated prices, then try to justify it on forums like this. You are just as responsible as anybody for the outrageous prices. One is free to believe whatever they like, but you Sir are somewhat mistaken if you believe that inflation is some sort of ‘monetary phenomenon’… What confounds me (but sadly, to our country’s collective detriment…) is how least understood the fundamentals are which make up today’s financial and economic system - mostly because these fundamentals have not been taught!!… Truth is that (like it or not…), ‘phenomenon’ in this context confuses mere happenstance with a well planned methodology… However, trust that I do share in your deserved frustrations… 3 tons

RE: Ram 5500 Front End Alignment Issue

Yep, it could even be the rear axle rather than the front…A car hit my Ram 3500 DRW dead center on the drivers side rear wheel, yet somehow missed the fender, but bounced off and tore off the LR Camper jack…The wheel and tire was badly damaged, so I then installed the spare…All seemed fine until I got on the freeway and noticed that in order to go straight, the steering wheel was now at about a steady 2 o’clock position, though there was zero sign of any sort of pull - this is now where the steering wheel wanted to be for the truck to travel in a straight line!! At the next fuel stop I took out a tape measure and realized that the rear axle was rearward about 1.25” on the drivers side, and slightly forward on the passenger side (from the wheel well openings)…A subsequent trip to the dealer revealed that the axle housing was slightly bent, as was one leaf as well…Luckily this and the camper jack repair was covered by insurance to the tune of about $25k…The offending young lady driver had been chatting on her dang cell phone… 3 tons

RE: Question on switching to LiFePO4 batteries.

Follow-up to WarrenS65: When it comes to accurate SOC’s, I kinda see the Bluetooth feature mostly as marketing gimmickry, while their real utility is for checking individual cell status…Further, it remains to be seen how the Bluetooth will respond to two batteries in parallel or series connection…My view is there’s no substitute for the credibility of a Victron shunt based meter.. Of all possible features, the Bluetooth feature wouldn’t be high on my ‘must have’ list - JMO 3 tons Upon edit, the aforementioned Bluetooth SOC inaccuracy may be associated with personal charging practices, and the number of less than a FULL charge, charge cycles which overtime leads to cumulative meter drift, whereas the Victron could be FAR better at resolving cumulative drift…Just MO… 3 tons

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

Seeing that price makes me feel like I stole my 42 foot Montana!! Well, consider that a million bucks $$ ain’t what it use to be, then consider the actual cause of the ongoing value dilution of the dollar :h, and (nowadays…) the very high unlikelihood that it’s depreciation can long term be slowed down… I accept that this is uber counter intuitive, but at some point it may occur to some folks to spend whatever is their ‘discretionary moola’ while it still holds substantial value - especially for those fixed income folks who don’t get COLA or pay raises!!…This points to a kinda inflection point the considers the continued depreciation of money, meaning, it’s NOT that commodity cost are going up, rather it’s that the ‘true value’ of the currency keeps going down…With this in mind, sometimes deferring known future purchases may be seen as something worth avoiding… 3 tons

RE: $100,000 Host Campers

They stopped building Kodiaks when GM went through bankruptcy. That was typically GVWR back then... Too bad they quit, it sure looks like a sweet set-up, but at only 17.5k GVWR, add service body, extra carried cargo weight and passengers and it might be getting close, if not over (??) - heck even my stock14k GVWR 3500 DRW diesel, 4x4 approaches 15k when fully stocked (with less!) and 2 passengers, this with a similar single slide camper…Now add a tow extension! Just saying is all…. 3 tons
