RE: Visible wants me to upgrade to new plan

Finally, got my email requesting to switch to the new network. I guess if you're among the first to signup, you're the last to ask to upgrade. :h

RE: Signature Missing

Photo Signature uploads have not worked for over a year+ on the forums.
Even Mods have not been able to update their photos.
Do not replace your current Signature photo as you will not be able to replace it.
Text only Signatures do work.

RE: Photo posting problem

The photo app is hosted on a free site, and never had a ssl certificate.
Some day I'll host it on a secure site, most likely Amazon AWS.

RE: Photo posting problem

I just did a scan of the site using Google's URL online scanner, and it came up clean using 39 leading malicious scanning apps.
The app is using non-SSL host site, which is likely why it was flagged by Norton.

RE: How to transfer large video from phone to computer

I wouldn't try emailing a video as a file attachment. Instead send a link to it from MS OneDrive or Google Drive instead.

RE: Forum coding problem?

This issue happens quite often with the Forum's legacy software. Or, otherwise, a glitch in the matrix. :E
Not much to do than wait until its working again.

RE: Visible wants me to upgrade to new plan

Never received a Visible upgrade email. But I'm already running as fast as my 4G iPhone can handle - 140Mbps data down.
Anyway, I'm from the old school that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Just tends to waste time and can introduce unnecessary complications.

RE: real signal strength!

Interesting map. But my location indicates 100Mbps down, 20Mbps up T-Mobile home internet. My actual speed is 5x faster on average.

RE: Verizon or T-Mobile

I have Verizon Visible for my smartphone, unlimited calls/text/data, for $25. month. Now $30. for new subscribers. And T-Mobile home internet, fixed location based, also unlimited 5G data now $50. month. Both have worked great with no issues.

RE: Laser printer/scanner recommendation?

I've had very good luck with Brother laser printers and have experienced no failures. When the toner indicates out, I just reset the cartridge and keep printing. Have discovered that there must be a significant amount of toner still intact, as I can keep printing quite a number of pages before the quality degrades.
I've only used aftermarket toner and have had no problems. In fact, our IT printer tech at my office only buys aftermarket HP compatible color toner cartridges. Have experienced no degradation in print quality. Saves a significant expense over HP toner. BTW, my office is no small operation, part of the largest organization of its kind in the world.

RE: VPN's again

Mullvad VPN is one I use as needed. You can sign-up for as little as a month, and doesn't require any type of personal info to setup. Not even an email address. You can pay by multiple means which then gives you a downloadable receipt with a code. Apply the code in your installed VPN apps activates the service. You can use the same code on multiple devices.
Mullvad servers are available around the world, 15 in the U.S. alone, and I found it to be among the fastest VPNs. I use this service primarily if connected to public/unencrypted/unknown WiFi while traveling.
I've also found it useful when using my wireless internet service, as it typically indicates my IP in a different state. Using Mullvad from a local location solves the issue of not having access to online film festival screenings in my area. Even-though I'm technically accessing the screenings locally, my out of state internet IP address will otherwise block access as being not licensed in that area.

RE: Got forced into MS 365

It's rare one should have to do a fresh re-install of WinOS, and should be a last resort. Try repair routes first.
Personally, when I get a new laptop or install a fresh copy of WinOS, install my base software and apply latest system/app updates, I make a full (base) image backup. This makes it much easier to restore your system if you have a serious failure, and saves a huge amount of time. Pays to do periodic updates to the image file
It has taken me roughly 20-30 min to reinstall a PC image. The only time necessary when experienced HD failure.

RE: Got forced into MS 365

I use both WinOS/MacOS systems daily, and RedHat Linux (RHEL) at work as a development platform. Unless you consider yourself somewhat tech savvy, Linux will likely be somewhat daunting to use. It may not support the standalone apps you normally use, unless just using it for web browsing and email. Also, Linux is no longer invulnerable ( always a myth) to hacker attacks, so important to keep it patched with security updates.
It pays to have a familiarity with Linux command-line if diving into Linux OS. I don't use GUI interface, as work mostly with JavaScript libraries and frameworks which are all text based.

RE: Got forced into MS 365

I think if you did some research, you would find other email client options available for free. I still use WIN 10 built-in Mail app for my personal Outlook.com email accounts. Though use the full version of Outlook client exclusively for work emails, as I get the full version of Office suite free for personal use.
I've used Mozilla Thunderbird for 20 years with multiple GMAIL/AOL email accounts. You can also configure Thunderbird for Microsoft email accounts though prefer using it for older accounts subject to spam, or been compromised by website breaches.
Check your email account at haveibeenpwned.com, run as a service by a Microsoft Regional Director. If have had your email accounts for a long time, don't be surprised if hackers have your email details - common these days.
You may also want to look at the free Vivaldi browser which has a built-in Mail client. It's Chromium based such as Chrome, MS Edge, Brave, etc. and can utilize Chrome plugins. Has privacy and ad blocking features built-in, and is cross platform supported on WIN/MAC/Linux Android/iOS. I've not tried the Mail client feature yet, though will do so in the near future.

RE: Anyone awitch to new Visible Plans?

Ticks my daughter off because she has an S22 and they will require that she buy the same model of phone yet again. No 5G anywhere near us nor will we go to Mexico or Canada. So we can't see paying for things we won't use.
Guess I'm not following. Why buy again? You can bring your own Samsung S22 on Visible.
My Visible plan includes 5G(low-band)/4G unlimited data. Though the iPhone I'm using does not support 5G. Below is a check of my current Visible 4G data download speed.

Download speeds for hotspot is limited, though have experienced speeds from 5-18Mbps.
