Topic: Just picked Her up! 2020 Outdoors RV 21RD

Posted By: Area13 on 06/07/19 02:47pm

We think we finally got it right for our needs. I really love TC’s and we tried, tried again, got a dually, a Host with multiple slides, just didn’t work for us (Her)! So we finally settled on this and feel like we have a rig we can keep for while for short trips and such. Empty nesters that like 2-4 night trips locally to the ocean razor clamming and such. I bought a used 2015 F150 That’s very nice to drive around town compared to a SD drw diesel. It also pairs well with this TT, towed home like a dream. I’m about 5200 lbs dry, 21’ floor, 25’ total. NO slides this time. Feels roomy, full walk around 60x80 queen. Love the separation between the bedroom and the dinette which is huge. Giant window out the rear is spectacular, can’t wait for our first trip.
Anyway, i’’m a TT guy again, so i’ll poke around here a little, good group here it seems.

Congrats. We have an ORV 20FQ(discontinued)that is the slightly shorter brother of yours. Good trailer. If you plan on keeping yours awhile, and since you mention clamming, consider painting your frame, springs etc. with a good rust inhibitor paint. ORV frames rust up fairly quickly. Just a small gripe in an overall very good trailer. Enjoy!

That is the floor plan I admire the most out of all they have. The large rear windows with the nice view of whatever scenery is available, while sitting in comfort. Congratulations!

Along with the previously mentioned 20FQ, this is what I would look for. Very nice! And can go nearly anywhere a TC can go, maybe even more places.

There is an owners forum at iRV2 Outdoors Owners. Lots of info with regard to your unit and the brand.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as we are. Welcome to the club....

I really like the Outdoors RVs and was thinking about going up to WA or OR from Nevada to find a used one. The 21 with the aft dinette is one of their best layouts. A really nice trailer.

I found a used Rockwood locally and bought that instead a month ago. I may still end up with an Outdoors RV.

There's an even better discussion group on FB, if you are on Facebook

Very nice! I really like that big window next to the dinette.

Wow man, that is a seriously good looking setup! You bought it becasue the wheels match right? Lol
I could tell you were disappointed in the move from the biggest baddest TC on the market, but this will definitely fill the void. Plus once you had black you never go back! Haha
Congrats on the new setup. But looks like the wife is going to have to learn to tow the boat....

Congrats!

I love the ORV units, especially the ones with gigantic tables like yours has.
I wanted a Black Rock or Creekside really bad, but couldn't bring myself to have to finance one, so I found a lightly used Nash 17k with a very similar floor plan to the 21RD. I like the rear door on the 21RD better though.

You will enjoy the TT group here. There's a lot less rude posts here than what has been happening over the last 6 months over in the truck camper section.

Looks like those are thermal pane windows. If there are, here's a video on how to make them slide easier if they don't slide open well

Thanks all for the comments and advice. We had a couple of beers in it last night and think she's a winner! I'm getting her loaded up today with all of the basics, then have a couple of weeks or so of other things going on before our first trip, can't wait.

Congratulations on the new trailer. Time to have fun.

I'm jealous! I've been drooling over that model on their website for quite a while. Unfortunately, DW says we can't afford a new TT.

I was skeptical of the big rear window, because I would think it would get pretty dirty from a lot of the roads I tow on. But I've come around to think it's not that big of a deal.

Enjoy!

It does get dirty, no doubt. I carry a small bottle of Windex. The small effort is worth the big view[emoticon]

Congrats on the new ORV! We looked at the 21RD but ultimately decided on the 23DBS. Picking it up right after the 4th of July. Definitely a well-made trailer.

I love truck campers also, but came to the conclusion that unless you have the really small truck campers, it's just not worth the loading and unloading, and driving around with a behemoth loaded on your back.

That's a super nice rig. If my 20fq wasn't already paid for......I've done a ton of little mods all over mine and don't really want to start again! Our 20fq has the same big back window as yours. I like the "mountain dinette" better than my U-shape. I like the drawers under the pantry/closet to the left of the stove. You're gonna love it!

We upgraded from a Chalet Takena 1860 to a 21RD. We love the walkaround queen bed (no more climbing over someone to get in or out of bed), the rear window is awesome.
