Wow, the best **** tires I have ever had that came OEM on a new vehicle which finally need replacing after about 40K in 3 years. This one is gonna hurt. Free shipping indeed LOL.

Look at the bright side. Beans are a source of protein and fiber.
Enjoy your new tires.

I've been very lucky with my Goodrich Rugged Trail TA's that cam OEM on my 2014 F150 with HD Pkg. It now has 64K miles with at least 1/2 towing, including a recently concluded 8900 mile trip out to the Rockies.

The tires still have good tread, and is evenly worn from shoulder to shoulder.

Next summer they will be 5 years old, and I'm starting to think I may replace them at that time.

Don't know if it matters much, but they've always been rotated every 5K or 10k miles, and I've always aired them up to Ford recommended 55# psi in front and 60# psi in rear.

Bad news Dad, you better be buying them up because they are no longer available. I cried for two days when I found out. They were OE on my 2005 Ram 2500 and I took them off with 75,000 miles on them with still good tread on them. (I was worried about their age) I give them to my daughter to run on an old truck they had and they probably put another 10-15,000 on them before they were done. I have run many sets of them on many different trucks and I always got great wear and mileage out of them.

I am surprised more are not looking into the Sailun Terramax AT. Anyone that knows about the Sailun S637 trailer tire knows the quality of the Sailuns. The price like the S637 is very reasonable compared to the name brands. They are just half the price in your size that you are paying for those Bridgestones . 507.96 free shipping from Simpletire

It will sure be my next truck tire, friend just put a set on, and said so far they are performing well. Very quiet running , which is my concern . No desire for howling tires .

IMO, there isn't a LT 265-70-17 tire made that's worth anywhere near that much $. They are dime a dozen for about $100 a pop for takeoffs (if you are near a city) or under $200 for pretty much any other brnad/style unless you get into expensive mudders. Even Toyo ATs can be had for under $200 in load ranger 121.
Food for thought, maybe you can eat steak next week AND ave new tires!

40K is outstanding for a tire with an on/off road tread pattern almost only driven on western/central PA's mountains and curving secondary roads. I have had plenty of Michelins, Firestones, and some other brands that were lucky to go 30K. Goodyear the worst....20K.

Some nosepicker at the tire store will probably take the old ones and run them, because I dont wait until they're down to 1/16" of tread so I can slide around this winter. I could probably get another 10K+ if I wanted to push it.

I really like the Duravis, but like Grit said no tire is worth that price. I talked myself out of them. I also really like Pittsburgh Rare Ribeyes.[image]

Interesting, I have the HT’s in the 18” on my Ram with 35,000 miles. Based on current wear, I can see getting another 20,000 on them. I’ve not heard good things on the AT’s however.

My 2014 Ram 3500 OEM's were the Firestone Transforce HT's ( 275/70/18 ) , and were done at 30K, and that was pushing them. Terrible tire, they were no different then another set of firestones that came on a new Superduty . Worse tires for wear that I have ever had, next to the Michelins.

You are one of the rare ones that report any decent mileage out of those OEM Firestone Transforce HT's or AT's.

As said I am surprised thats there is no reports on these Sailun Terramax AT's, not sure how long they have been available. They are very reasonable on price . 50K wear warranty. Same tread pattern as the Toyo's, Coopers , etc.

RV’s are like boats...break out another thousand.

Except I can’t come up wirth a funny acrostic for RV. Because so many times they are not recreational...especially if you don’t do preventive maintenance. They will ensure that you break down at the most inopportune moment if you don’t maintain them...

OP I’m glad you are doing this now. While no one can guarantee that a break down will not happen, preventive maintenance is a very very good thing and goes a long way to making this hobby actually relaxing.

Thanks!

HT is strictly on road tread, AT is on/off road more aggressive tread, and you'll always get less mileage the more aggressive the tread pattern no matter the brand. I assume you're talking the Firestone Transforce which is the commercial rated tire comparable to the Bridgestone Duravis, and also comes OEM on the GM HD's. My 2013 Silverado had the Firestone Transforce HT and from what I remember were still in great shape when I traded it on the GMC 2500 in 2015 @ 26K miles.

Anyhow I am back to steak, well at least Pork chops. I made an offer on a set of Bridgestone Duravis M700 2000 mile takeoffs @ 125 each. The brother in law has a mounting machine and spin balancer so that's a freebie, and at least upgrades me to center cut chops.

The Duravis on my 2005 were close to done at a little less than 40k when I had a large cut in the tread from a road hazard. It was still holding 80psi and my heavy truck camper at the time. I got new ones last year. Yes, they were 12 year old too and never even so much as a leaker in all that time. I ran those things hard loaded to their max with the camper on for some of those miles. They were one OEM tire I wouldn’t call cheap garbage.

Its **** good mileage for a 4 wheel drive truck driven mostly on two lane secondary roads here in western/central PA, with our mountains and curving roads. I've had plenty of sets of Michelins BTW over the years on personal and company vehicles, that did not make it past 30K, along with Goodyear, Firestone, you pick.

You are aware that tire wear is dependent on things such as asphalt mix designs, concrete finishes on roads, weather conditions, and a whole host of factors which vary by regions, state to state, even county to county?

Anyhow I picked up a set of the Duravis M700's with less than 2K miles which were takeoffs from an 18 Silverado for $100 each, free shipping, on fleabay. That's prorated pretty **** good from the $250 each new price LOL.

That's what I'm talking abooot.
Only bought 1 set of "new" tires in about 10 years now. Rest have been takeoffs OE or otherwise off craigslist.
The new set was Amazon, good deal.

32,000 and treads were done to 1/16" on my OEM HT's on my 2013 Chevy 2500. Coopers that replaced them were not much better. When I traded the dealer said he would have to replace them before selling, No, I did not allow him to reduce the trade in value because of that.

I find 100K claims laughable.......especially so on a 4X4.
I am lazy when it comes to rotation since I don't drive the 2015 much, and would like to run a lower pressure when not towing, but the **** TPMS drives me nuts when I do. I am seeing center wear on the rears.
One thing I do not do is run them down to the 2-32 minimum I can get away with per PA's yearly state inspection requirements. I know when it's time by feel on a wet road.

Cummmins12 claims 100K from Michelin's and BFG's....,that's not been my experience with either. BFG's would last way longer than the Michelin's I have had, but would cup excessively and get noisy.
I walked out back from the office yesterday and looked at an F350 we have at work, that has Michelin LTX AT2's, and @ 30K they are down to about 3/16" tread. I would not buy a Goodyear if they were the last tire on earth.

Perhaps the best tires I have ever had was back in the mid 90's when Hoosier Racing Tire made street tires for a few years. Those **** things would wear like iron, but would sing like all get out after a few thousand miles. I believe they stopped making on road tire around 2000.

Same here, as a mater a fact I know fro a fact that the Good Year SRA's that came off my Ecodiesel at 28K were put on one of the workers trucks. Those things were scary in the rain and had 4/32 and 5/32 of thread left on them. I usually run tires down to the 3/32 mark before changing them myself.

I have the Firestone TransForce AT's on my 2013 Ram 2500 CTD and got just shy of 50,000 before I changed them. If it wasn't for the fact that snow was coming, I could have easily run them another 5000 or more. I replaced them with the same tire and currently have about 40,000 on this set and figure to get about the same mileage from them.

"Of course.....one guy in particular totally discounted my claims of good ride quality and traction over on TDR. I’m sure you may even know this guy...."

I said your tire of choice will wear like iron but won't have as good of traction or ride as my MS2's. I'm not the only one claiming this.

I believe I said if using my truck like you for my business I would likely choose your tire of choice.

You ,and me both. Firestone is by far the worst wearing tire I have ever owned, as far as stopping, whatever that remark meant.

Every now ,and then we hear about Firestone, and this kind of mileage. My last Firestone Transforce HT's lasted 29K, the ones before that were similar. Experienced pretty much the same with Michelins.

How could you claim this when you do not have first-hand info (ie you actually purchased a set) and ran them?

How did your stellar MS2's work out for you at 39k miles......45k miles.....50k miles.....100k miles....150k miles?

Ohhhhhhhh....that's right.....they did not make it that far, and were pro-rated.... [emoticon]

You need to get back on the road!

Posted By: blt2ski on 10/31/18 09:38pm

some need to remember if not posted yet. If you do more city county road, stop and go, turns etc, you will not get as good of tire life as one that does mostly highway miles on an interstate or state hwy at speed. Ea time to stop and start, you lose an extra amount of tread with the micro skids you fat arse can not feel vs just going straight not stopping. Go around a corner, again, your tires skid some, probably not enough for our fat arses to notice, but still some rubber left back there that a highway driver that is not stopping will not lose!
I've personally found Michiblows to be one of the worst tires on my trucks! Cooper, Toyo some of the better ones. GY, BFG to also be on the lower mileage side. I had a set of Firstone HT's on a van at work, got some 65K miles out of them. But driving some 35000 miles per year, on interstates etc, not surprising! on one of my pickups, 45-50,000 would be doing really good. Probably more of a 40-45K mile tire.

I ran Michelin AT2s when towing FT majority of which was on secondary/back roads cause I Hate Interstates

At 60K I would get a new set...not because tires were worn out....still good thread left. I am anal about tires especially when towing FT
I keep them balanced but rarely rotated them.
Fronts were kept at 55# and Rear at 45# non-towing/80# towing

Other then rear tires on my cars in high school I have always gotten at least 50K out of tires.
My working years I drove mainly Ford Broncos with 1 to 1 1/2 hr commutes one way to/from work...all types of roadways and ran Coopers. Still got 50K or better.

Tires never dictated whether or not I ate Rib-eyes. That's just poor money management.

Not poor money management, that was humor. Something that is lacking in a big way on RV.net.

FWIW I grilled up some filets last night I hand cut from a nice whole loin. Would of rather had a ribeye.

Not 100% sure where Verde Valley is and not going to google it. Spend some time in SW and Central PA, driving mostly 2 lane state and county roads in the Allegheny mountains, then slap your head when you don't make it to 40K with a set of tires.

Do they tar and chip roads every summer with limestone chips in Verde Valley, essentially making them 20 grit sandpaving?

Speaking of money management , have you checked out the Sailun Terramax AT's , you could afford a whole lot more of those filets, yes I prefer ribeye [emoticon]

I have about 2 to 3/32" of usable tread left (before I get down to the 2/32 minimum) on the OEM General rear tires on my DRW 2016 F350.

Based upon the excellent performance the Sailun 17.5's (that I put on the 5th wheel this year), I am planning to go with the Sailun Terramax HLT 245/75R -17.

At $587.96 for a set of 4 from Simple tire, and free shipping, the cost difference pays for a set of Centramatic wheel balancers.

They will catch on, some just don't get it. A lot of the die hards fought the Sailun S637's , and we know how that went.

I actually looked at those but they have a slightly more aggressive tread than I was looking for. I wanted another set of the Bridgestone Duravis M700s that came OEM on my 15 GMC 2500. No way was I forking out $267 each, Tirerack has them on sale right now for $245 lol.

Anyway I picked up a set of them takeoff on Ebay with less than 2K miles for around $125 each inc shipping. Came Fedex yesterday and you can hardly tell they were ever mounted. Still have most of the injection nibs.

Can do the 2" thick ribeyes now.

Good find . Yes the Sailun have that pretty aggressive All Terrain tread , much the same as the Cooper AT3 or the Toyo AT2's .

That is why I am selecting their alternate model which has the HT style tread pattern: Sailun Terramax HLT 245/75R -17

Are you speaking from experience regarding the Sailun brand?

Also, are you aware that Sailun has accomplished ISO 9000 quality management systems certification?

There are plenty of great tires made here in the USA. Every time you buy more junk from China it cost American jobs. You made your money here spend it here and keep Americans working.

1. You did not answer my questions.

2. If there were "plenty of great tires" specifically made for trailers in the U.S., there would not be a market for Sailuns. That is part of Economics 101.

3. In the absence of factual data, you are presenting a false argument by stating that Sailuns are "junk".

4. Free speech includes rendering your own opinion. It does not include telling others how they should spend their money.
