Let the build begin! Just finalized the price and build sheet, should receive it by the end of April, first of May. As some of you know I have bounced around a few TC's and a couple of TT's the last 10 years, DONE! This is a 10 year rig minimum. Ton of money for a blue collar working stiff, but this is our entertainment and will get used 12 months out of the year. We love traveling around on our weekends and on our vacations and think this is the perfect size and fit for us. Ultimately we couldn't get comfortable in a dinette and I HATED towing around a TT, HATED it!! I upgraded my SRW to a DRW last year so i'm pretty confident it should haul it safe and comfortable. Here's our build sheet- 6' couch with high low table-Ultra Single recliner-Ultra 32" Main TV AM/FM/CD/DVD 4 speakers Microwave 3 Burner Range/Oven According privacy bedroom door 120v Fireplace Upgraded Heke escape hatch 9k AC (for use with 2k geni) DSI gas/electric water 160 watt solar w/monitor Dual 6-volts Swing out brackets Power passenger side awning Storage bay slide out tray Custom retrofit generator compartment to fit 2k geni I'll post a bunch of pics when i get it. Here's a video of our layout with the couch and 1 chair. Host Cascade Host Link * This post was edited 01/21/18 10:46am by Area13 * 2020 Outdoors RV 21RD 2015 F-150 FX4 5.0 3.73 |

Thanks for sharing your personal taste. In 30 years of RVing, I never had one with working TV and plan to keep it this way. 32" TV ? I have only 30" in my 900 sq-ft great room. BTW it takes total ignorant to put water-wasting 2-handle shower faucet. I hope climbing over the bed to get pair of socks will work for you. Sorry to spoil your parade, but that camper, beside recliner make no sense to me. None of the links shows how many steps you have to climb to get there?

I really like the Cascade, if they would have had that floor plan in 2015 we might not have a fifth wheel now. Why the choice of only one recliner and the larger dinette?

Ya it's an interesting option, but we felt it would give better access in and out of bed since the double recliners took up more entrance space to the bed. We both wanted the couch over the dinette and 1 recliner is the only option with that setup. It is also the same setup we have at home and don't see ourselves sitting together in recliners, don't watch much TV. It will be nice to have the option go back and forth between chair and couch, which is what we do at home. |

Congrats on the soon to be yours camper. Looks great. Getting out of bed on the same side was one of the reasons why we went with the Mommoth but it works fine for many people. Looking forward to your build pics. Enjoy.

Area13..Very nice camper...I have always thought pickup campers have had very generic floor plans, up until Host came out with there very different ones..I really have not seen one I did not like. The one issue I do have is the lack of actual weights on them, like TC campers buyers guide, is a pretty good take on the weights of different campers,at least in the ball park, from what I can tell.I cannot find actual ready to camp weights on the Host line of truck campers.First thought at looking at the pictures, is there really heavy...Dry weights listed are as everyone knows, misleading. Enjoy that camper.... Lance 9.6 400 watts solar mounted/200 watts portable 500ah Lifep04 |

We looked at one of these at Tom's Camperland in Mesa, we really liked the layout, it had the two recliners with the L-shaped dinette and the bedroom area was actually pretty easy to get in and out of! We like how you don't have to do the shuffle when getting dressed or cooking, plus the dry bath. The Host campers seem to tick most of our boxes also, but we are pretty happy with our AF811 for now! Now it's the waiting game with all the anticipation, good luck and enjoy!

Thanks to all the well wishers. This is a huge investment that the Wife and I feel pretty good about. We’re empty nesters in our late 40’s and figure this will get us to retirement and then go from there. We figure this is our little cabin we can travel around the US and Canada in.

Can the recliner be tilted back? Doesn't look to me like it does? If so how much? Sorry Area13 how the thread is turning around, but it is common on this forum that pointing the facts will trigger avalanche of bashing from forum trolls. That stops people having something constructive to say from posting. Don't know if you already made full commitment on the camper, but I don't see how you can be happy having no cloths storage in main living area? Those things can be still customized before taking delivery, can't they? |

Good choice Area13! one question is it a 2018 or 2019? We ordered one from Tom's Camperland in AZ due in February but its an 2018, just curious as to the cutoff date from an 18 to a 19. Ordered with the 2 chairs that fully recline. It's a well thought out innovative design. The anticipation is part of the journey ![]() hope you enjoy it.. 2019's start in April and I decided to wait till then for my build to begin, told hopefully a quick turnaround. Just figured with this much dough I might as well get the newest model year possible even if I have to wait a little. It's exactly the same as the 18's, no changes. When I talked my Wife back into getting a TC, she said she wanted a couch like our TT. We think that big cushy couch in the Cascade with the high low table and 1 chair (only option with the couch) looked like it would fit our needs. I know most people like the 2 chairs, and it looks cool, but then you have to get the dinette, we're weird I guess. With our configuration we're hoping to get better in and out of bed access as well since the 1 chair option doesn't block the bed entrance at all, everything has trade offs. |

Nice choice Area13! Sorta new to this TC world and found the Cascade info and threads. We are looking at it in about a year. Really like that layout but was not sure on the couch and single chair configuration. So I can see that for just me and the wife, that makes a good option over the dinette and double recliners. If you had more family then the other option mike be better. I have seen the floating table in the Host video and it looks great. When you say cushy couch can you say it's a lot more comfortable than a dinette? It sure looks cushy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=14&v=lDexhqVF880 * This post was last edited 01/23/18 07:40am by Raystar57 * |

Raystar57 wrote: I have seen the floating table in the Host video and it looks great. When you say cushy couch can you say it's a lot more comfortable than a dinette? The 6' couch replacement for the dinette is waaay more comfortable for us. We have owned both the dinette and side couch models of the Host Mammoth. The dinette back rest is vertical and the U seating under the window is cramped. The table is the icing on the cake. It is adjustable at any height, so it works for meals, computer use, and kickin' back and resting your legs on its surface. It's in-and-out adjustment works well for calorically challenged users. And, it's easy to slide fore and aft for easy exit from either end of the couch. Of course, this is just a personal preference, so it's probably best for you to test both models first. |

we missed the 2019 by two months oh well! our AF 996 sold quickly (4 days) so we pushed the order up, good to hear they are not making drastic changes. The couch and Hi-Low table was very tempting but for us the two chairs will work best and we couldn't have both. we had them add an additional table base in front of the two chairs for either eating or computer, etc we will be able to move the table from one area to the other. It's all in personal need and preference.

the AF are in high demand, well built TC. the waiting is a killer though, I know we are driving our sales rep crazy trying to keep up with the changes we keep making. It's great that Host goes the extra mile to accommodate everyone's needs and wishes, something we found out doesn't happen with the other TC brands.

I was on the phone asking Randle about my 2k geni fitting in the outside storage area where the onan would go. He walked over to someone else and they said it will work with minor modifications. He immediately added it to my build sheet, done. Took like 90 seconds. |

Sounds like it was meant to be. Great news and now you can spend some time paring down the inventory that came out of the trailer. You'll be pleasantly surprised of all the available space when you pick it up.

He immediately added it to my build sheet, done. Took like 90 seconds. This makes sense. The area above the genset compartment is more than generous for the utilities that are provided for water, power, dumping valve cable, 120v shore power cable, jacks cable switch. It's a bunch of stuff but that lid could easily be raised. When fitting it for my own use I considered reworking it myself to increase space. It's awesome that Host is so flexible! |

I agree it’s awesome that they’ll work with you like that, but I have to ask why they don’t design the compartment to hold a portable generator in the first place? Seems like a no-brainer especially if it’s a minor mod. |

Some items that were custom become standard equipment later. For example: The black water tank flush and Longer 7-spade cord.

New to this so this would be a vertical increase not a horizontal correct? It would also allow for more Lithium packs if you are heavy into solar and want extra capacity. Nice to see Host is easy to accommodate a customers minor mods. |

How does one accumulate sooo much stuff in such a small space? emptied our AF/TC and pulled out enough to fill our living room, stuff just kept coming out of it...didn't need half of it! should do this every year or two (that's the plan anyways) we"ll see how that goes

I think with all that stuff you need an enclosed trailer.![]() So when towing a trailer with the offset rear door, do the stairs clear the trailer tongue without angleing the units? It seems like it will but I can't find any pics of it hooked up and lowered. Curious if an extended trailer tongue would be required for clearing steps with a WD/sway system. |

Size, weight and just generally like the layout. Love the Mammoth, but the Cascade gives us everything we want in a 10.5 ‘camper that weighs almost 500 lbs less. We really liked the couch with the high low table in the mammoth, we get the same setup and 1 recliner. We thinks it’s a sweet layout for it’s weight and size. |

Got my dry weight from Randall at Host yesterday. I know a lot of people are curious about weights. Anyone wants to chime in on their weights i'm curious also. With my build- 6' couch with high low table-Ultra Single recliner-Ultra 32" Main TV AM/FM/CD/DVD 4 speakers Microwave 3 Burner Range/Oven According privacy bedroom door 120v Fireplace Upgraded Heke escape hatch 9k AC (for use with 2k geni) DSI gas/electric water 160 watt solar w/monitor Dual 6-volts Swing out brackets Power passenger side awning Storage bay slide out tray Custom retrofit generator compartment to fit 2k geni I'll be 4157 lbs when it leaves the factory. He didn't answer my question on COG, Host doesn't mark it, hopefully i'm near the rear axle and not past it, who knows? I'm throwin new tires on Friday, along with already having air bags, Bilsteins and Upper Stable loads. Will be curious to see how she rides (2006 F350 DRW) and if I need to mod my truck more. This will be about 800lbs more than my last camper, but that was on a SRW. |

Went and saw one in person. So much room. I also have a 2006 F350 DRW. I have 4804lbs of payload. This camper is too heavy for me. Once you add water, propane, passengers and gear; it will be over 5000lbs. Enjoy you new Cascade when it comes in.

The unit examined at Ohio dealership with similar other options (exceptions: std dinette and two theater seats w/ onan generator, and included full propane and batteries) was estimated by dealer at 4,250. Weight sticker from factory was 4,060 lbs. - 2018 RAM 3500 Laramie DRW - 2018 Host Cascade Dual Slide |

Picked Her up Friday, stayed in it that night, picking it up at Apachee in Portland was fine. In and out in 2 hours and on the road. If anyone is thinking about getting a Host, build it online and tell Randall to send it to them, best price, hands down. You will most likely be dealing with the owner Kevin, straight shooter, no fluff. I got mine for a little over 20% off of MSRP and a 2019 at the cheaper 2018 price since I got in early and waited. First thing I noticed was it was not really squatting at all with my truck setup, had 19.5 PSI in the bags, probably less or none needed. Pulling out of Apachee making my first turn on to the roadway I knew I was going to be good. Being my 4th TC it felt solid with no swaying and bouncing around. This is by far my heaviest TC, but my first on a dually, solid. I had little to no gear on board, but water was 3/4 full. Hitting the highway I was super cautious at first, but by the time I was an hour in I turned the radio on and was doing the speed limit (70MPH). The setup felt better than I hoped. I sold my last setup because of white knuckles, so pretty (very) happy so far. One down side so far is the mattress, FIRM, like cement, GONE! Floor space is massive, couch and recliner are super comfortable, long trips will be easy peasy, no dinette fatigue. Pretty amazing setup for a 10'6" rig. Fireplace was hotter than we thought, nice upgrade and never ran the furnace (on AC). Ultimately the Wife is super happy giving up Her huge TT (that I hated towing) for these creature comforts. Gotta admit they're pretty sweet even though it's not for some. We have a trip planned for 4 days of razor clammin at the ocean in a week and 1/2, so i'll know more then and maybe get some better pics, but so far i'm impressed, fit and finish along with overall quality seem very good. Also impressed with the slides, super quick and solid. SO, I knew I would be a little tall for my 12' carport, yep. I was. Looks like i'm about 12'4" top of my AC. Dirt guy will be by to dig me down 6", glad i'm not on a cement pad! ![]() Click For Full-Size Image.![]() Click For Full-Size Image.![]() Click For Full-Size Image.![]() Click For Full-Size Image.![]() Click For Full-Size Image.

Oregun wrote: Congrats , looks great. Have you considered raising the carport with railroad ties or beams instead of digging down? Thanks. Ya, just think it will be easier to lower the river than raise the bridge in this scenario. There's actually a slope in front of the carport, will be nice to level it out with the extra dirt/gravel. |

I figure with a full tank of water and some gear, you'll be right at 13k. Depends on how many passengers and how much gear, but you'll be able to adjust with how much water you fill. Should be a great camper.

First trip in the books and all went well. The Wife was very comfortable which was my main concern. Truck handled it good, 20psi in the bags on the way there, almost zero on the way home and handled better. Bags not needed, 10 psi from here on out unless i tow the boat. Had more people come up and talk to me about my rig in 4 days than I have in all my other rigs piut together, folks were curious. Dug a couple of limits of razor clams and the pups loved runnin on the beach. We were at Pacific beach state park, WA. One more bonus is my dirt guy came by while we were gone and got some dirt removed and now I fit under my carport, win. The best part is he only charged me some salmon steaks for his work!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Which layout would you recommend for a family with 2-3 kids? |
