My F350 CC has a payload rating of 6,200 lbs. So with three people, and a fully loaded AF1150, including full tanks, it comes in at 13,700 pounds, which is under athe GVWR of 14,000. |

You should also mention you are a gasoline engine which is lighter than a diesel, and still only under by 300 lbs. ![]() '10 Ford F-450, 6.4, 4.30, 4x4, 14,500 GVWR, '06 Host Rainer 950 DS, Torklift Talon tiedowns, Glow Steps, and Fastguns. Isn't it a given that insurance will deny claims should said overweight srw be in an accident? It always seems to be beyond my risk threshold to run overweight. I sold a nice low mile F350 srw since it couldn't carry anything with a slide legally. I got a small class C that was legal and used it for 4 years. Now I am back to looking at truck campers and this thread seems to scream DRW.

Now I am back to looking at truck campers and this thread seems to scream DRW. A 'given' as in should? because that isn't what happens. I dare to say one would be hard pressed to find an instance where troopers/officers weighed and ticketed an RV'er after an accident, save for fatal accidents or similar. It just doesn't happen, and I suspect the insurance industry is set up more on averages and that the numbers of overweight RV'er that causes an accident because of the overweight probably doesn't register on the screen. Just surmising here... this subject of insurance and overweight has been beat to death, but there is a reason out there that it isn't a reality (denials). Anyone IN the industry that can offer more insight? '16 F550 CC, 4x4 with Link Ultraride air suspension, '18 AF 1150. Just so we can play with our snowmobiles, dirt bikes and fishing boat. Hmmmmm Out of curiosity i did more math. If I dropped the water to 25 gallons and propane to 30 gallons (both more than enough for 90% of what I'd be doing) I'm down to 700lbs over weight (without actually weighing the truck and camper together -- which i will do when I actually have a camper). If there is water onsite so i don't need to haul any then I'm down to just 500 pounds over. Though I'd have to add about 150lbs of tongue weight and of course food etc but that is starting to sound more reasonable. I'll have to look at other maths to see what I might be able to shed but mostly, I'll need a TRUE weight on the camper and truck. 2019 F350 Lariat FX4 DRW PS6.7 2019 AF990 |

It can make a big difference. Full grey and black also makes a difference. Empty as soon as you can even though many recommend only emptying full. |

Folks, let me explain the difference between an over loaded vehicle and a properly loaded one: We owned an OVERLOADED F350/Alpenlite for 6 years. We went camping at least once a month, every month, for 6 years. My wife drove the rig exactly ONCE in 6 years. She hated driving it. We have owned the PROPERLY loaded, dually, E350 Minnie since June 2017. We have traveled to three states and driven thousands of miles in 70 nights on the road. My DW has done 3/4 of the driving (while I taken a nap in the passenger seat)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How cool is that? Fleet Ford specs show.. Ford specs clicky 18"-20" wheels rated at 3590 lbs.. 17" rated at 3195 lbs. GVWR ?? Ford markets 13 F350 srw with 12 different GVWR. And some same identical F350 SRW trucks can have a 10000 gvwr or a 11500 GVWR ....your choice. Take some time and look through all the mechanical specs/ weight specs.
