Remember when Tusk said the Semi was going to operate off of model 3 motors? What a joke.
What motor will be used now?
4x Model 3 is close to 1000 horsepower. Almost as much as your dragster.

You do understand duty cycle don't you? There is a reason you don't see 6.6 Duramax, 6.7 Superduty or pickup Cummins engines in a class 8 semi.

Anybody can get the 600 HP needed for a class 8 truck now days. It's the duty cycle that would kill these little toy engines.

Do you seriously think a toy model 3 toy motor will work in a semi? I don't care if you put 10 of them in a semi.

Even in a toy car that weighs 4K they blow up. Look what happened at the Nurburgring.

(Ben I wrote this early in this morning but it didn't get published for some reason. I see you had the same thoughts as I did.)

You have no clue what Tesla electric motor can do.
Btw those motors are 99% eficient.
Compare that w diesel and cry.

You said "was". This implied to me you had some information that changed. I thought you had some inside buddy. Or is this top secret NDA stuff?

You arent Tesla customer anyway,so why do you worry so much about it?

I worry because my groceries cost more because they have capital tied up waiting for their semi.

General Motors sold only 26 electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021. Tesla recorded a record-breaking 308,000 sales for its EVs in Q4 alone.

GM reported 26 electric vehicles sold in the US for the 4th Quarter.

GM sold over 6 million vehicles in 2021.

How many EVs did Tesla sell in US? Maybe more than GM maybe less. GM is transparent in providing vehicle level reporting by countries or regions. Tesla will not identify the models or the countries or regions. But Van bought in on the hype.

Tesla discloses "deliveries" not sales? Why? Are most of the "deliveries" lease vehicles not sales? Is the semantics some kind of book cooking to excite Wall Street analysts and the faithful. Every automaker in this country and elsewhere reports sales? Why doesn't Tesla?

Why isnt Marry Barra investigated by SEC for lying to shareholders by claiming GM to be number one in EV production?

If your groceries cost more blame your oil producers for creating fake news about oil shortage to justify raising fuel prices.

There is a whole world of difference between a racing engine that puts out 600 HP and a class 8 truck engine that puts out 600 HP.

There is a whole world of difference between an engine the can put out 500 HP for hours and an engine that can put out 500 HP for a few minutes at a time on a track.

Anybody that thinks you can bolt several model 3 motors in a semi are you're good to go is delusional.

And before the fan boi's move the goal post again; Tusk talked about an over the road class 8 semi. He was not talking about a UPS city vehicle that bee bops around a city route of 100 miles or so.

Tusk wrote:

“If you want, for long-range trucking, you can take the range up to, we think, easily 800 km, and we see a path over time to 1,000 km range for a heavy-duty truck,” said Musk.

You heard it from Tusk first: 621 miles.

Now we will see how the goal post moves.

Time, remember when you said we will see a handful of Tesla Semi's at the end of 2019......then 2020.....then 2021? We are at the beginning of 2022. Where is the Semi at?

"If your groceries cost more blame your oil producers for creating fake news about oil shortage to justify raising fuel prices."

The price of oil going up is almost entirely due to politics. If you doubt that look at how much fuel costs in California vs the rest of the country and try to come up with a different explanation. However, we are not supposed to get political here so that is all that I am going to say on the subject.

The high cost in CA is for reduced air pollution, ground water protection etc. Also CA has no connection to the TX and east coast pipeline grid so oil and fuel must take a longer route to import at again a higher cost. Some is political requirements due to unique geography that traps the air pollutants and some is logistics.

Looking forward to the Semi for reducing the air pollution even more.
