Maybe if on the Rivian they just turned the headlights 90 degrees? Horizontal instead of verticle?

Today, $TSLA announced that in the third quarter it sold 241,300 vehicles globally, up 73% year over year (YoY) and 20% quarter over quarter (QOQ). Meanwhile, $GM blamed the ~33% YoY decline in its US sales on chip shortages. What? #EVs require 3-5x more chips per car produced!

Tesla actually requires fewer chips as most components are controlled by the central computer.

If you follow the tech or auto industry you know about the massive computer chip shortage. That chip shortage is costing the auto industry billions of dollars because hundreds of thousands of cars and trucks can not be produced without these key components. Well, that is true for Ford, Chrysler, GM, Honda and Toyota, it is not true for Tesla. So how did Tesla avoid the chip shortage.

I'm listening, but hearing nothing but crickets. But after all it's only been 4 years. [emoticon]

That is because those crickets are busy building the factory in TX. And Semi seems to have been pushed to come after ModelY & CT at the plant under construction.

But the mouth said they were going to build the semi and deliver to all those companies that donated $20k years ago. Tusk did not say, give me your $20k and I will build a few more factories, build other model cars and pickups, and then you will get your semi. It seems that they knew how to get free loans from large companies, on a promise that has not been proven.

So I expect to see the fanboys call me a "hater". I believe competition is best for the consumers, but we have a thread for years about a semi and the excuses, stories, and reasons why there is no Semi.
