Picking up new travel trailer this week and my truck does not have extended mirrors. What is the mirror of choice to use when towing travel trailers?

I like my Cipa slip on mirrors sold by CW and others. Easy on and off. However, my Winnie is 7.5 feet wide. With an eight foot TT you might not get an adequate view.

If there's a factory version for your tow vehicle I'd try to find a set you can install. I've never seen an add on mirror that works as well as a factory setup.

Factory tow mirrors are the best but also costly so I instead bought a set of CIPA mirrors for my recently acquired 2012 Silverado. I find they work quite well, no vibration whatsoever, and I can see fine around my 8' wide Coachmen. Cost was but a fraction of factory tow mirrors and electric function of the stock truck mirrors isn't impacted at all. ![]() ![]() ![]() 2012 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 2014 Coachmen Freedom Express 192RBS 2003 Fleetwood Yuma * 2008 K-Z Spree 240BH-LX 2007 TrailCruiser C21RBH * 2000 Fleetwood Santa Fe 1998 Jayco 10UD * 1969 Coleman CT380 |

Thanks. I have a GMC Sierra that has auto folding mirrors when you lock the doors. I think these will work well and CW has them for $50, so it is worth a try. CIPA Custom Towing Mirrors SoundGuy wrote:

I bought a pair of these (about $90 from PPL?) when I towed with my Nissan Frontier....CIPA didn't make mirrors for my 2012. Traded to a Titan and the same mirrors fit whatever vehicle I have! I've had CIPA's before and they were very nice too. My old 2001 F250 has the factory mirrors and those were the best but were HUGE!

Best mirrors are the OEM style tow mirrors.

There are over 14K listings for aftermarket (chinese made) replacement extendable towing mirrors of Fleabay, and out of the 3 times I have purchased these for myself, or installed them for others at least a dozen times, no real complaints. The ones labeled "Koolvue" seem to be the best. $200 or less will get you a set unless you have a Dodge, and they can be found with the options such as heated, etc. They look exactly like the OEM mirrors. I went to wallyworld and bought some strap on mirrors and they do great. I labeled them L and R so and I leave them in the camper. They go on in a few seconds and we're on the road. Then I take them off. They don't vibrate and I don't want to ride around with big mirrors hanging off of the burb when not towing.

These are what I have on my '08 Sierra. Had a set for my old Suburban as well. Cheap and reliable. SoundGuy wrote:

I also have the CIPA mirrors on my 2003 Suburban since 2012. They don't vibrate and don't interfere with the folding function of the OEM mirrors. I've never taken them off since 2012. I would buy them again. I am using clamp-on mirrors by "Longview" LVT-3100C. Got them from eTrailer. They seem to be working fine. Rear view is good, no vibration at 60-65 MPH as our normal towing speed. Stayed on tight too. -Ron Starcraft 2017 AR-One 21FB Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.7 Hemi. |

I bought a set of universal clamp-ons. Don't remember who makes them, not CIPA I know that. It was time to tow my new camper home and that was all the dealer had. I will probably get the CIPA slip on mirrors later.

Another user of the Cipa slide-ons-for my GMC. I thought that the single, small piece of cushioning tape they include might not be enough. (Clear instructions said where this small piece goes) I thought I could add moleskin if something more was needed but have not had the need. Mirrors are solid, easy to install and have not damaged the OEM mirror as was my concern.
