I'm NOT buying anything, I promise. The 2015 is doing just fine. But I wouldn't be surprised if I don't make the leap in a year or two on a 2018 or so. But does anyone have a picture of a new F350 or F450 hooked up to a fifth wheel camper? All the pics I can find are hooked up to a gooseneck. I just want to see how well a fiver sits in the back. Not sure but the new Super Duty beds look awful deep. My 43' long Vengeance still sits just slightly higher on the nose with my 2015 and I have the hitch as low as I can without getting too close to the truck. If I were to get a new Ford and its even higher in the back or I have to raise the hitch, that would look silly. |

Well put. A jewel indeed. Looks like an F350. Any others out there? I'd love to see an F450, too.

I don't have a pic, but several on the FTE have them. One thing we've realized is that the floor of the trucks are the same height as the previous year models, but the bed sides are 2" higher. So the trailers are not sitting higher in the nose per say, the rigs are just losing 2" of bedrail clearance.

I have my Reese at the mid point and the camper is getting close but I'm still OK. Getting close but still OK also means it sits just a little nose high. If I have to go up on the hitch because the side of the truck is higher, the camper is even higher in the nose than it is now. That Raptor FishOnOne has posted looks great. But that's a 350. I like my mess level. |

Stirring this thread back up. I'd still love to see an F450 hooked up to a typical fifth wheel. They seem to be quite tall in the back and that concerns me.

Aren't those front rims in the pic F450 rims? I thought the F350 had the reg rims.

FishOnOne. You're making me hide my wallet from myself. Just for shiggles, I decided to stop by my friendly Ford dealership today. I pulled out the trusty tape measure and began taking numbers on both the 350 and 450 duallies. Oddly, the distance from the ground to the top of the bed rail and the distance from the floor of the bed to the top of the bedrail was the same for both trucks. The larger wheels on the 450 appear to make no difference. From ground to the top of the bedrail was 58.5". From the floor of the bed to the top was 21.5". My 2015 F350 SRW is about 58" or so from the ground to the top. The bed is 20.5" from floor to the top. So in theory, they're so close, I'm not going to worry too much when and if I get one. I have my Reese on the middle setting and the camper is ever so slightly higher in the nose with the truck sitting level. It's not enough for most to notice. But of course, I do. But my clearance from camper to bedrail is about as close as I'd want to get. So if I did get one of these trucks, I'd probably have to raise the Reese to the top. |

on the 2016 model F350 drw and F450 the height to the tailgates are the same, oddly the srw f350 is taller than both the 350drw and 450. You can't go by the tape measure at all. I was very surprised when I hooked up for the first time. I had measured my 2012 so many times my eyes hurt and measured a ton of 17's on the lot. However, when my 17 came in, I had to set my hitch back to where it was on my 12 and my trailer sat dead level. I did loose a couple inches of bed rail clearance but I had 9" on my 12 so it was not a concern. Another guy I chat with on FTE had the exact same experience going from the previous gen to a 17 450.

I had considered a 450 but found no need so went with another SRW 350. Love the truck and looking forward to our first trip towing soon. Trailer is within 1/4" front to back. 7" of bed rail clearance. Truck is approx. 3/4" lower in the rear with the garage empty as shown in the pic. About dead level with the garage loaded...

Well done Rodney. I was wondering what you eventually got. Nice choice. As for those recent pics with the Cyclone, it appears that one is the Magnetic Grey color. I like that a lot but right now on Autotrader, there aren't any within hundreds of miles of me. But I haven't had the dealer search their Ford database yet. |

Yep, that's bronc71 over on FTE. He was going to go black but changed his order a couple weeks in. It's a nice 450 for sure. Magnetic is def my second (maybe tied for 1st) favorite color and I love it as my accent on the truck and RV...

Yes. My last two have been the good old Ingot Silver. But I'm ready for a change. Magnetic or the good old Shadow Black would work for me. Just so hard to keep the black as clean as I'd want it to be.

Yesterday morning, arrived at RDU airport at 4:30am. Flight left at 6:10. Landed in Columbus around 7:40. After breakfast, dealer's driver picked me up around 8:45. As we pulled into the Ford sales office, there was the truck sitting there ready to go. Of course, it took a couple of hours to do all the paperwork and deny all the paint protections and fabric seal, etc. Probably close to 11:30, I pulled out heading back to Raleigh. 490 miles and pulled into the driveway around 7:30. I was exhausted. A fun but really long day. But I'd do it again if it meant the truck I wanted. Driving like that straight home for almost 500 miles gives you a lot of time to learn new things these trucks feature. Haven't touched the truck since putting it in the barn last night. It needs a bath terribly. LOTS of bugs on I-77 in W. Va. ![]() Pics will be coming soon. |

Finding 2017 F350 and 450 DRWs is becoming quite difficult in the south. All three Ford dealerships in Raleigh say they just can't get them. Demand is far greater than supply and Ford and the parts suppliers are struggling. I had my favorite servicing dealer look on his Ford dealership website for me an F450 with about a dozen things I really wanted. Lariat, magnetic grey, black interior, etc. I had made a list just like if I ordered one. This one was the only one within 1000 miles that had everything I wanted on my list. A member here on the forums hooked me up with a Friends and Family X-Plan PIN. I sold my silver 2015 F350 on Saturday. On Monday, I called Ricart Ford in Ohio. We did the preliminary deal right there on the phone. On Wednesday morning, I was on Delta flight DL3777.

By the way. If anyone is looking, Ricart is hard to beat. They are a corporate sponsor of the All American Quarter Horse Congress. They sell a bunch of duallies there because most folks there have some really big wallets with really big horse trailers. This year, a huge number of the trucks they ordered for the show did not arrive until well after the show. That's why they have so many now. As of right now, they have 30 F450s and 47 F350s that are at least Lariat, Platinum, or King Ranch. |

First sunny day here in NC since I bought the truck. At least enough time to hook up the camper and bring it out. I guessed on the hitch. Moved it up to the highest setting to clear the bed rails since they are taller on the 17s. I was worried it would be too hose high. But from what I can tell, its good enough for me. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() 2017 Ford F350 DRW,2005 Kountry Star 35ft,16750 lb weight on SAILUN tire,6 points LIPPERD Level-up.New Mor/ryde IS suspension install.Full body paint 2022.RV flex roof 2023 |

That's a beautiful looking set up. Wow, that trailer is long! There is no way I could get that in my back yard. Maybe that's a good excuse to look for an acreage!
