He has done well as a career racer without question, got more $$ and notoriety than me! But, I get a sense of mounting frustration from him to the point I wonder about his crew chief"s future and Kyle has had a few.

And, how 'bout the Indy Follies? Is anybody a fan of Fernando Alonso and Lone Star Johnny. I am, and will be watching the show over there.

Cloud Dancer, I'm not Alosi fan per se, but I sure do like the deal with he and McLaren. And Johnny Rutherford being brought in for a rep is outstanding. Hope Betty comes along as though two were just a wonderful racing couple. And I really like Bernie Ecclestone being Po'ed about the Alosi deal. Check this out too. https://speedsport.com/sprints-midgets/usac/stewart-nemire-classic-aj-foyt-car/ |

There's a race at Indy this month??? Have to confess my interest checked out of open wheel racing long ago. Except for Marco, no Andrettis, Unsers, Johncocks, Foyts, etc out there. And from a technology standpoint with cars, I think NASCAR is heading down the open wheel 'slope' to.......... If Kurt Busch was takin' another swing at the bricks, I'd be watching. Thought he did nicely in his first attempt. |

I enjoyed the challenge of trying to grow up during the golden era of Indy racing (the 50's). And, I was a major fan of many drivers. But, when the group of rich car owners attempted to dictate to USAC and to the management of the Indy Speedway, and they formed CART, THAT'S when I started looking into NASCAR. However, there's no way I could ever forget that the month of May belongs to INDY. |

One of the greatest experiences of my life was a May in Indianapolis (was doing some training at Fort Benjamin Harrison on the other side of Indy from the Speedway). Salt Walther had some Navy sponsorship for his car that year (1974) and I was in good with the local recruiting district. I spend every weekend at the track with a pit pass and some week days, and pre-race pit road access for the big race.. Johnny Rutherford won his first Indy 500 that day. Tuned in to the Kansas race just in time for the red flag. Utterly amazed Aric Almirola suffered nothing more than a single vertebra fracture. That was a vicious impact. Wonder if NASCAR will disclose the crash data from the black box on board?

At those ultra-high speeds, whenever out-of-control cars crash, the danger level is potentially ultra high as well. I agreed with what Danica Patrick said in the interview after she came out of the medical check center. Congratulations to Martin Truex and all his people. My man Kyle Busch is now 7th in the points standings, but if his crewchief doesn't succeed in finding a little bit more top speed, that's where he'll stay. I'm looking forward to the next race. |

If not mistaken, what the 'woe is me' Danica said applies to every driver out there. As for her 'bad luck', that also can go with the territory. Brad Keselowski said it even better after the race "Racing is dangerous, always has been, always will be, we all know it". The only part Danica got right was Logano hit her, setting off the crash, but it was not some grassy knoll conspiracy theory wreck to deny her a good finish. She truly needs to look inward for the reason she isn't more successful. I'm over the media hype and tripe about her, loss of sponsorship and leaving SHR and NASCAR would be beneficial for team and sport. There, I said it........... Wishes for speedy recovery and return to Aric Almirola. |
