The deck height is 3.5' when unloaded and the Host 9.5' from floor to air conditioning. It should be close to 13' tall since the Arctic Fox was less than 12.5'. The truck is over 10K lbs empty wet weight and 15k lbs with gear, occupants, Arctic Fox and trailer. I expect it will be over 17k lbs with the Host loaded. So, what's the empty weight of the truck as is now, full of fuel? I've been kind of thinking I should have gone that route instead of the 3500. but I would probably hae had to order one. I found the 3500 at a dealer in TX. |

That is a great looking RAM. Do you attach the tie downs to the rail on the side of the flat bed. Do you have anything else to prevent side to side movement, or is this not a problem. I also like your tool boxes.

Getting ready to go, I will give a full report on the Host and the dealership on how everything goes, as requested. Also lots of pics and actual weights.

Will a regular P/U box even fit on a 5500? Looked at a F550 couple weeks ago and it had a P/U box on it. |

Here's one company that does it. http://www.classychassistrucks.com/f450.htm There are also a few threads if you search the internet that describe how it's done. http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f32/pick-up-bed-f550-104502/ '10 Ford F-450, 6.4, 4.30, 4x4, 14,500 GVWR, '06 Host Rainer 950 DS, Torklift Talon tiedowns, Glow Steps, and Fastguns. I also like your tool boxes. The short range FastGuns are tied to the deck rub rails at the stake pockets. The front of the Arctic fox was blocked against the headache rack since this TC was designed for a short bed truck. The TC sits on 3/4" thick horse stall mats to clear the goose neck hardware in the center of the deck but no side bracing was required. I have a stripe marked on the center line of the TC and mats to line it up on the deck - If I had some type of physical guides, loading would be easier. ![]() Once we get our Host, I will be looking at building out the sides for additional storage or filling the voids under the wings with tool boxes. I did not do this yet because the Arctic Fox dimensions were different and I did not want to pay twice for this storage.
