The inner rear and spare are steel. These are 10-lug on a 225mm circle which is shared with the Fords of the same size, but I don't think you can find the Alcoa's in the correct 8-lug patterns. American Force and Vision should make alloy 19.5's that fit your DRW. I have friend with a F350 DRW running the Vision 19.5's.

On my 1st Pete, back in '82, I had issues w/corrosion between the inner steel wheels and the outer aluminum wheels. May be something to keep an eye on. My 3500 is the same, steel/aluminum.

The folowing 5 rigs up through the '05 KW, were all aluminum wheels including the trailers.

Galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals can be problem (especially in areas where chemicals are laid on the road). I figure it cannot be any worse than the contact of the steel drum or disc base to the aluminum rim?

My rims are aluminum, but no issue after just over 3 years. It is on a Ford F450 though, so maybe it's different on a RAM. [emoticon]

Jim, I can arrange a mineral salt bath for you and your truck. If you want to see something corrosive, just try starting a brand war in the Tow Vehicle section of this forum. Marty over there is busier than Wayne...

Bedlam, What method do you use to rotate your tires? I have Alcoa with inner steels and got many different opinions on how even not rotating tires at all from other members and some dealers. So far have just rotated fronts side to side.

I haven't found a reason to rotate them after 24,000 miles. I do watch for uneven wear and will address the cause and rotate left to right at that point, but see no reason in going through the Chinese fire drill if they wear evenly. I am running highway/steer tires (Continental HSR) on the front and traction/drive tires (Continental HDR) on the rear, so I will not be swapping front to back.

This is my first DRW, so I watch tread wear with some curiosity because I can feel the rear scrub when taking sharp corners. I'm wondering if the rear will wear out first since they primarily propel the vehicle and carry the most weight across four tires or if the front will wear faster since they give directional control and have more weight per tire applied. I know how SRW's wear through experience but only know DRW from education...

Too funny, but we aren't into brand wars here.

People in the TC section are typically polite to each other even if their opinion of someones camper is not publishable. You won't find that restraint on people's keyboard in the other section - Marty has to play filter and child sitter.
