I would go with electric over crank up, no qualms. Removes the inside tubing and front mount track assembly entirely. From looking myself, it appears to be the RT system. The give away is the rectangular dark brown metal enclosure, exactly the same as I have.

You can see in the pictures at http://www.campersplus.com/new_galleria.asp?veh=528667&pov=4857070 So maybe Northstar is actually selling these as an option now? that's my guess. Another question for the NH folks this weekend. on edit: Actually on all his popup models, looks like that dealer orders them with the electric roof lifts. Just looked at Northstar’s page and it appears the SC 850 & 950 have Electric Lift standard now. |

Hey everyone, Just thought I'd update the thread, we committed to the Northstar 850sc yesterday through TCW in New Hampshire. Sidecar was very persuasive about comparing the Northstar to the Palomino 1251, so I made sure last week to take a look at the Palomino at a dealer near Syracuse NY who has just started carrying that line. Still ended up liking the Northstar more, features-wise, so that's what we're doing. This is a unit that is currently on the line being built, so we should see it within several weeks or so. Added AC, an awning, and electric jacks as options. Undoubtedly will be back here with more questions the closer we get to picking it up. Any advice anyone has at this point would still be very welcome!! and thanks for all the help in this thread over the past year. Hey everyone, just a quick update to say we're taking delivery of the camper this weekend, and a quick question. Only thing we haven't decided is which steps to get--TCW carries both the Stow 'n Go scissor steps as well as the Easy Hitch hitch steps. Pretty comparable in price. Any thoughts? scissor steps let us keep the hitch receiver free for bike/storage racks, hitch steps can be used even when the camper is off the truck, which might be nice. From a pure "truck camper usability" perspective, which do people prefer? thanks. Jim |

Having said that I have a Palomino pop up and it works for my wife and I just fine. |
