Linda,
Nos sure about Loyd. He hasn't posted since 7/31. Not sure if he is just lurking though, so I sent him a PM.

I didn't watch the first half of the game--turned it on just as the Cougars went ahead in the 3rd quarter. It must have been a good game until then. After that it became an error-filled game and the Beavers took charge. I figured on a closer game....

Our adventure to Florida starts tomorrow morning. Hope to be on the road by 10 at the latest. First stop, 7 Feathers, then 2 stops in CA and one in AZ, NM, TX, MS and one in FL before we (hopefully) reach Jacksonville next Thursday. I'm hoping to stop by the Federal Way scales to see how much this little trailer of ours weighs now with everything in it, but that number might be a little scary. [emoticon]

We will miss all of you, but you never know...we just might connect down the road somewhere. I ran into an old co-worker from 5 years ago here at the park in Bothell.

I will post updates of our journey when I can.

David,

We just got into Sun City this afternoon and in the house. I'm kind of assuming that your using I-10. If so, you will be about 15 miles south of us as you approach Phoenix. If you want to have a "real" shower and bed for one night, you guys are more than welcome to spend the night here with us at Sun City. We left Indio CA this morning and it is a 250 mile run from there. You may want to keep an ear open about wind forecasts down here on the desert as they said it would be "breezy" tomorrow - whatever that means. I will feed you any reports that may impact your route. If you think you can make this a stop, let me know and I will pm our cell numbers to you.

Safe travels.

David, if you are taking I-8 cross country you will pass within about a mile of my place, we have water, power, 50amp service if you want to spend the night...

Not sure how far you plan to move a day but Rolling Hills Casino is a good place to spend the night in Corning California. We always spend the night there out in the parking lot.

Ron/Bob,

Thanks for the invite to park at your place, but I'm afraid we won't be that close. After 7 Feathers, I believe we're in Manteca, then Barstow where we'll take I-40 through AZ and NM, then drop down to I-20 around Dallas, follow that for a bit before dropping down to I-10 in MS (I think) and straight into JAX.

Drive Safe David and Laura. We came thru Barstow last week before we headed over to Needles and then dropped down to Quartzite and Yuma. You will get to see the wind generators if full bloom when you come over Tehachapi.....Bob and Sue

Any others of our group passing thru Yuma, drop us a line and if our spare spot is empty its a good place to spend some time...

Got to 7 Feathers around 9:30. Got a late start this morning. [emoticon]
Also picked up a nail in the right rear truck tire. Les Schwab in Fife had us back on the road in about an hour.

Hi everyone,

We stayed at French Camp RV Park Resort and Golf course last night near Manteca CA, but "Resort" should not be part of their name! First problem, we got there after the office closed, even though Laura talked to them on the phone 20 minutes before we got there telling them we were on our way. Once the office is closed, good luck getting in the gate. No after hours phone, nothing by the door for us (like other CG's do for late arrivals).

Fortunately, the security guy let us in and off we went in search for a site. No idea which one was assigned to us, so we just picked one that looked good. So much for that idea. [emoticon] A concrete pad that isn't level?!?!? Come on! Narrow roads that made turning into any space tricky due to the large rocks that were place near all 4 corners of the concrete pad (but on the grass). What a PITA! When I called to make reservations, there was no mention of all the road construction going on in the area, either on hwy 99 or near I-5. That would have been nice to know ahead of time. [emoticon] Popped the power pedestal circuit breaker with the AC on and an electric griddle. Guess the park power ain't so great either. Oh, and right next to CA-99, so pretty noisy. Needless to say, we would not recomment this park to anyone. We left before the office opened. Couldn't wait to get out of there.

The drive from 7 Feathers to Manteca was pretty good until we got to Stockton. We hit THE WORST stretch of freeway EVER!!! I thought for sure the trailer was going to come apart, or at a minumum, something inside was going to be broken. But everything stayed in one peace, thank goodness.

Now we are at the Barstow/Calico KOA, just east of Barstow. Typical KOA...right next to the freeway (I-15). [emoticon] But it's convientent on our way, so we will put up with the noise. Other than that, it's a nice park. Most of the drive today was pretty good except for the first part of the day when we were still on CA-99 which is mostly under construction. Once we turned off on to hwy 58, the road was much smoother. Went up and over a pretty good pass (Tehachapi Summit) on 58. About 15 miles of uphill 3-6% grade, or so says my Montain Pass Directory. I think a few short stretches were closer to 7%.

Heading for Holbrook AZ KOA tomorrow. We'll see how that one is. [emoticon]
