We reserved two 20x20 spots at the Overland NW rally back in early March. Ouch that is only a month away now....better get busy. Awesome. We'll be there in our Overland equipped 4Runner. I'll look for your setup and stand in the long line of people that will be wanting a tour!

A little bit more work done this week...getting mighty close now to pulling the garage pod out of our garage and seeing it on the truck. We installed the floor mat and toy tie downs, put in the second 3700 lumen LED light over the workbench (more light now than an operating room), and wired in the inverter, switches, breakers, bus bars. As you can see in the picture, the garage pod only has one Lifeline 125AH AGM. It has a smaller Magnum true sine inverter/charger (1kW with 1600 watt surge, compared to the 4kW monster in the main pod). It still is decent for running small tools and the built in 50 amp 12V charger will keep the Lifeline happy enough. The plan is to have just one 120VAC cord from the garage pod to the main pod and the garage pod will suck some juice from the main pod inverter output when the 1100 watts of solar have fully charged the main camper batteries and are just idling. It will also be nice having the garage pod self contained power for the times when it might sit by itself (not sure exactly how often that would be, but could happen). ![]()

This is getting sweeter and sweeter with each posting of the progress! You are doing a fantastic job! Now you need a small solar on the garage, maybe a flip up unit on the side so you leave the top wide open for goodies and toys...it could even be mounted on a flip-up garage door awning or some such arrangement. Great work and post! 2005 Lance 1161, 2004 Dodge CTD 3500 Dually 19.5's Stabiloads Roadmaster Sway, 2009 20' Raider 185 Pro Fish 90hp & 9.9 Yamaha vintage Penn elec.downriggers EZLoad roller trailer |

DONE! (well, not really, but it is close) Today we pulled the finished garage pod out of our garage and mounted it on the truck. Everything fit the way we planned and it looks reasonable. The ramp door, powered by twin 3500 pound capacity winches, works beautifully. In one of the pictures you can see where we have it level as a porch but have removed the winch cables and use the truck jack stands to hold up the end. The standoffs on the ramp have receivers for the jack stands just like both pods. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Jfet, WOW!!!!! When are you giving it a 'test camping'? Only thing I notice and it is because I am a bigger boat driver than most, the tie downs, in my opinion should act like fore and aft spring lines on boats. Most pick-up tiedowns do that or at least should! IMHO This site is a little overkill but makes a very simple point regarding the springs, which relates to TC's. Again IMHO! Springs |
