New question. I was driving my 2012 CA 23A yesterday and the space between the chairs in the Cab became quite hot. I understand the transmission is directly under. It's still within the 30 days of purchase. CA wants to put in new fluids. Can I push for a new Tranni? If so, how. Does it need a new tranni?

It is not at all unusual for the doghouse and the area between the seats to get quite warm as that is right where the exhaust is. If you are worried about the trans, you would probably be better served taking a sample of trans fluid and sending it off to Blackstone Labs or similar for an analysis. I can tell you based upon my experience, it is almost never the trans in the E350 chassis.

Historically, my dogs would sit in that area. I would not want them there now. I'm not familiar with Ford trucks at all. If not the tranni, then what? |

I think some people have talked about placing additional insulation or heat blankets in the area, but it doesn't really bother most people. When the vehicle was new, there are several heat shields on the top of the exhaust. No telling whether those are still in place or not. A lot of times the shields fall off and nobody knows about it. |

Hi, 510dogmom: Hot Floor? Check out this Video from RVing with Tito. In this video he addresses the "Hot Floor" issue and gives tips on what can be done. Hopefully it will help you with your situation. https://youtu.be/Tzt87gYtMDY 2012 Majestic 28A Ford E-450 V-10 |

Maybe check and see if the cover is insulated and the insulation hasn't fallen off, deteriorated, or been removed?

Wow! Read through all 73 pages! Lots of great information. I am very interested in a shorter rental RV but the 19' ones seem very rare. I contacted A and they said the soonest they will be selling any will be Fall of 2018 :/ There's one on El Monte and I emailed them but they never got back to me. Any suggestions?

Give Mike Dwan a call,he is the National Sales Manager he will happily answer any and all questions that you may have on a purchase from El Monte RV. He can be reached @ 562-483-4949 or at [email protected] Nice guy,I have talked to him a few times to get answers for this thread. That is how I found out about the fly to buy program, where you get air fare off the sale price, remember to ask about it. 2006 TIOGA 26Q CHEVY 6.0 WORKHORSE VORTEC Former El Monte RV Rental Retired Teamster Local 692 Buying A Rental Class C

Another question---since buying a rental is so much cheaper than a comparable RV in the private sector---when financing, is it possible to get underwater on the loan? I guess my inclination is to finance for as long as possible (144 mo? And I'm looking at a 2013 Class C at El Monte). TIA for any input on this topic!

In theory, your purchase price is what the unit is worth (accounting for having been a rental, higher mileage, etc). If you finance for a longer period of time, there is less principle being applied each month. So, as the unit continues to depreciate, the question is does the principle portion of your monthly payment cover the depreciation and ultimately the continually updating value.
