I might add that my neighbors and friends are all amazed at my rig when I've showed it to them last couple days. Some of you may not know/remember that CA has a nice referral program.... if they mention my name and buy a unit, I get like $300 check for referring them.... beer's on me!

We bought an ex-rental from CanaDream back in March of this year. We got a 2014 Forest River Sunseeker 2650CDW. The motorhome was terrific. The service was a nightmare. The salesman was very disorganized and at one point tried to sell us a unit that he had already sold to someone else. The business office lady stopped returning my phone calls because she had a Botox emergency for a week. And, I am not 100% sure that the full sales team was not drunk when we went to pick it up at 11 am.
With all of that on the table, we paid less than 40% of new for a 3-year-old rig. I got to review all of the service history. We have used it for 15 weekends plus our two-week vacation with not an issue.
I initially went to this motorhome because I wanted a four-season motorhome. The salesman told me it was good to -30c and after camping in it to -15c I think the motorhome could but I really don't want to get much colder.

Having a 4 season RV is a plus for you,I go camping year round but it is a much milder climate here, I don't think I want to try that cold of a Camping trip.

Congrats, Robbie! Looks like a great MH and good to see you getting lots of use out of it.
We found out ours is good down to -10 on our first trip. We were on highway 40 south from Grande Prairie, in April I think, and ran into snow and cold. We pulled into the tiny Southview campsite about 60 km north of grande Cache and just enjoyed our house until the weather cleared the next day. Wonderful way to travel! No serious problems with our 2004 ex-Fraserway Adventurer in 8 years now.

Is it unethical to ask what some of you are paying for your used rentals? Really considering downsizing and getting a smaller RV. We currently have a 36ft Class A. I'd like a 28 or smaller class c. Also trying to decide between diesel or gas. If anyone is willing to share there sales price I'd love to hear. Or you could pm me. Thanks. Great thread.

Both El Monte and Cruise America post their used vehicle prices online, while Road Bear gives a starting at price.

How are after-market warranties?
I noticed CA has a 5year/100k plan for $1650. I seldom buy warranties on appliances but when spending $25K to $30K for a rental with +100K miles it seems like it might be worth it.
Anyone with experience in how well they honor the warranty?

Others may have a different experience but I have found that most 3rd party extended warranties are barely worth the paper their written on. They usually exclude the things that are most likely to break. They have multiple outs for the things that are covered or they only cover part of the repair. A first hand example was, I bought an extended warranty on a brand new motorcycle, 3 years into ownership it started making a bad noise from the valves. I took it in and was told they would need to replace the valves and seats and possibly the cam. The warranty company said they were not covered because they were not broken just making noise. The dealership said if I waited for them to really break they would cause much more damage, the warranty company said I was responsible to stop malfunctions I should be aware of. Long story short I had to pay for the repairs almost the same cost as the extended warranty. My advise is put the money in a savings account marked for emergency repairs.

I'm in agreement on extended warranties. The insurance companies are motivated to have as many "outs" as possible.
I prefer to save up my money if/when a repair is needed.

I also agree with previous 2 comments. They will try and weasel out of any claims. There is a reason insurance companies make so much money.
