Topic: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

CA does not offer a Service record as they claim to have proprietary info on them but they do offer a list (per vin number) of items that have been replaced.

I have pics of ours before they got to the coach. They had just started tearing into it so its all ugly inside.

No wonder mine looked as good as it did. I'm not sure mine was from CA as I bought it from an individual. All I know is it was a rental in its first life. Actually, now knowing what is done with rentals I'm a bit disappointed in the condition although still happy to have it. I have my fingers crossed.

Those 19Gs seem to be quite popular with the European travelers.

This past spring, I had one park next to me for 2 days. A young couple from France were renting it to tour the US. I had not seen one this small up close,so I asked about it. They said that they were use to small RVs like they have in Europe and they could get it almost anywhere.

He said that she slept in the upper bunk while he slept on the folded down dinette, she was about 5'2'' and he said that it was to crowded up top for them both, he was about 5'8''.

I asked about any draw backs and they didn't like the small holding tanks, both about 64 liters,so they had to dump often and it only carried 79 liters of fresh water so they could not stay very long in places that were not full hookup with out having to find a place to dump and refill the fresh water tank.I thought that was pretty big until I did the conversion to Gallons.They did say that the fuel tank was about 30 gallons but that they fueled every day.

The hose that CA gave them would not fit with out leaking so I gave them my spare hose so they could continue their trip without all that leakage.

They were use to the WET Bath so that was not a problem for them,They seemed happy with it but said that next year they would try a larger one with more storage,that thing was packed pretty tight.

The other thing to remember is this -- The guys who do the refreshing do this all day, every day. They know exactly what to look for, what to do and how to do it right.

YA, they seem happy in tight quarters, probably what they are used to?

I usually always try to strike up a conversation with RV renters. It's amazing where they are from sometimes. Also surprised at how some of them travel and amount of time they do it in. Have meet couple that were "doing the USA" in 9 days. Florida to Portland. Not enough time IMO but they sure enjoyed it. One couple thought I was a "Cowboy" because I was cooking on the ground with our Dutch oven, too funny. I did win them over with my pineapple upside down cake. They were from Germany and wonder why everybody doesn't RV being gas is so cheap. This was couple years ago when gas was high for us, but to them it was cheap.

When you see the high miles on these units I bet 95% are freeway miles. Probably easier miles than on my daily driver in city traffic.
