WOW does it drive better... heck yes! It used to rock-n-roll like crazy just pulling into my driveway over the rounded curb. Haven't highway tested it yet with semi's blowing by, but we're taking it out soon on a kayaking camp trip.

UPDATE: I ordered directly from Hellwig, it was like $350 for the model for the E450 chassis (model #HWG7180), it was $225 for my local Phoenix Ford (Sanderson Ford Truck Center) to put it in. Some of you guys with air tools, multiple jacks, and another pair of helping hands could probably do it in 1-2 hours. And not in Phoenix during the summer. ;-)

RIDE: OMG... big difference. My wife saying after a couple hours of me driving to a campsite... "you're not tired and grumpy" says it all. And we can even go on a mountain bike ride the first day...lol

NEXT: Thinking of ordering the rear Sumo springs (SuperSprings SSR-107-54 | SumoSprings Rear for Ford E-350|E-450, Yellow) about $310 amazon, and then the chassis stuff is good to roll...

Fortunately had $ to buy new, IMHO used units are someone's else problems. I know my unit and maintained them myself. No trust in rentals maintaining them, if buying used, IMHO private party is best.

disagree! private parties can neglect their units. Rental companies loose money if their units are not in shape to rent. My exrental has been excellent for the last 3 years!

I'm guessing that by used you mean a non-rental unit. I'd guess your notion goes double for former rental units. If one is not familiar with the care, feeding and maintenance of a RV then yeah, new is probably better option... at least it used to be. Right now I would not buy new unit period. Since the covid crazy buying and crazy crank em out sloppy factory practices the new ones are essentially junk. As far as former rental... again, sure helps to know what you're looking at... but the folder of rig history of maintenance and repairs is pretty slick and easy to proof by looking at the work done. I've had my former CW rental unit for 7 years now with zero problems beyond the normal maintenance. I'd buy another in a heartbeat... Bottom line one must do what makes them comfy as that is the prime directive for RV ownership!!

Whether out in the motor home or just sittin n sippin a fine whiskey, my mind wanders these daze. I'm ok with this...

I have been fortunate my 20 year old Winnebago C still going strong since I like maintaining it myself, love the tools and hobby. You may be correct new motorhomes are not made same quality as 2 decades ago, and yes private parties may not maintain their unit as well. Congrats on your rental unit 7 years with zero problems. Go RV remember to change oil and fluids. [emoticon]

I've got a couple of 2015 Thor Majestic 28a Class C RVs that have what appear to be Dometic 320 toilets. One of the seats is worn and the other just broke, so I want to replace both of them. Googling online looking for options, one of the only places I can find a replacement one is here:

$99 each.

"Regular" toilet seats (for a home) that I would usually buy at Home Depot, Lowes, etc seem to be in the $30-40 price range. They are all slightly different shapes and sizes and obviously it is important to get one that is the correct size (or very close). Do any of you happen to know of a good replacement toilet seat that fits the Dometic 320 toilet? Might be a long shot but thought I'd ask. Otherwise, I will need to measure width, length, bolt spacing, contact point spacing, etc and then manually go to the store and start measuring/searching.

OK - I was one of those "I'd never buy a rental" folks - and now I'm buying one.....LOL! We went to a somewhat local dealer who has a BUNCH of small Cs for sale - come to find out, they are actually a rental company and their contract stipulates the unit needs to have more than 6,000 miles before it can be sold. I got to see a rental that was waiting to be cleaned and re-rented - it was spotless. My salesman said their hefty damage deposit helps convince renters to be careful. So we put a deposit on a 2023 Chateau 22E and will probably pick it up next month when it gathers enough mileage to go to a permanent home :-) For the money we saved compared to a "virgin" unit from other dealers - I'm OK that ours will have been used a bit :-)
