Topic: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

I replaced the cheap smoke detector with a decent one that detects smoke and carbon monoxide. The cheap one would go off if we even heated up water on the stove, let alone any cooking. The new one speaks out the problem; smoke or CO. Plus it has a button to acknowledge and silence the alarm. So now even if it goes off, I can just push a button to quiet it back down again.

I installed my weather station with 2 remote sensors. One under the wing near the front for outside temps and one in the dump valve area. Wife finished make the drape that well go across the rear door. This allows me to take the cover off the lower window in the door so I can see who is out there if someone knocks on my door without opening the door to a stranger in the middle of the night. Also looking for a place to mount my new Remington 870 12 guage tactial shotgun with a 18.5 barrel that we well be taking with us to Alaska. Normally I keep my Tarus Judge that shots 410 shotgun shells with us but heading to Alaska with a hand gun is a no no.

I like the idea of mounting the weather station sensors. In deploy mine manually for each trip and that can be a pain keeping them out of the sun and not forgetting to pick it up before breaking camp. I REALLY like the idea of mounting it under one of the wings.

How do you like that Taurus Judge? How is the recoil shooting the .410s?

I just use double sided tape and mount the sensor. Using alchol to clean the area before putting the sensor on. When I take them off I normally really have to pull on them to get them off. I have never had a problem with one coming off.

Honestly I haven't had a chance to shoot the Judge yet as I haven't had it that long either. I don't think it well have as much kick as my 44 mag does though. I do need to get out and start shooting again as I have been collecting some guns lately that I haven't even fired yet. I guess I'm saving them in new condition for my son to use them some day when I'm gone. I know he well love it having brand new guns. [emoticon]

Great idea with the remote sensors. Personally I would take the Judge as a backup for just in case, IMO, Because if you rely on only one you will need two. Have fun on your Alaskan adventure

Use it at the world famous Slab City. Ah yes, my kind of people and not for the faint of heart. [emoticon]
