If I get motivated I will start tidying it up. drain the grey water from this weekend, top off the fresh water and get ready to head out for wine tasting and camping in the Sonoma and Napa Valleys of California this coming weekend. Still trying to decide whether to stay at Sugarloaf state park or Skyline Wilderness Saturday night

Hi Buzzcut1, I have a class A motor home that I travel and camp in at this time. Mostly weekend camping witha a couple two week trips a year. I have been searching for a truck camper to take my first extended trip out west in the spring of 2012. I live in south Louisiana. I have noticed in my searches that it appears that California has more truck campers for sale than any other state. Is this the preferred way to travel/camp in the west and if so why. Thanks in advance for your reply. I have been debating if I should drive my motorhome (37 Allegro Bay) out west pulling my Jeep or purchase a Truck Camper. Hope you can help. BTW, I have made a couple trips to Colorado Durango/Silverton area. Is the terrain any worst than that further west? We do have a lot of mountainous areas with narrow roads where a fiver or a big class A would be a pain Many more spots where you can fit a TC in next to a river on a pullout and quite of few of the park roads and campgrounds have length limitations. It could also just be that we have 38 million residents so you just have a large pool of buyers and sellers.... |

Or it could be that fuel is sooo expensive here that it's cheaper to run a TC than a Motorhome/5er. I have a boat so I cant run a trailer, and I sold my motorhome because of the reason above...

In the last week we came home from the Last Trip Before Winter (a tradition), Washed the exterior with Camco RV wash n wax (stuff really works). Wiped down all the exterior windows. Washed all the linens and re-made the bed. Removed all the freezables. Blew down the water system with compressed air. Added RV anti freeze to drains. Drained tanks and added RV AF to black tank. Vacuumed the interior. Helped the wife cope with minor depression caused by the above... Actually finished yesterday. Pulled the onan generator, soaked the carb, redid the governor arm, installed a fuel cut off valve, and reinstalled. Purring like a champ now. To dos: install LED TV mount somewhere. Get ready for ski season. |
