Topic: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Posted By: Deb and Ed M on 05/25/15 06:07am

I painted the inside of the cabinet where I removed the old fridge; sealed up the exterior fridge vents with aluminum tape and styro insulation - and in a sheer stroke of luck, found an old kitchen cabinet door that fits the opening (!) - I now have a nice big pantry!

Purged all water & LPG lines, fired up the Onan, cleaned the gutters, wiped down the panels and skylights, took a pantry inventory. Picked three off-grid weekends with friends!

Took my camper out for it's first trip of the year to Eureka Alaska for a little ATV'ing and rest. We have over 18 hours of daylight (21 hours of civil twilight), Wahoo!

Inventoried the light fixtures in my father-in-laws camper and ordered the LEDs to upgrade it.

Added a stereo system....

Built a cabinet for the amplifier I got off Ebay for $10, a motorcycle mount for my GPS which has XM Radio and an MP3 Music Player built in and a pair of Fosgate speakers.

Matching speaker enclosure on the other end of the overhead cabinet:

The Garmin GPS unit moves from inside the truck to the camper as needed. The system sounds great. Now I'm off to Lowes to get some stain to match the existing cabinets.

"Rock On!"

While at Lowes picking up some stain, I saw a small plastic waste bin.

Was trying to figure out a way to secure it so it doesn't fall over and stays out of the way when camping.

Check this out!

The knob was already there for a storage compartment. But you could add one in another are if you needed to.

Cut the slot just a bit short so there is downward pressure on the bin. Stays rock solid.....

Rbertalotto, I found a skinny wastebasket that fits in the "slot" between the cabinets where the roof risers lay when the top is down. Keeps it out of the reach of my dogs.
