Topic: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos

67, thanks for the nomination as the first MPAEEP Award. Based on my rate of completion it might better be called the MPAEEFEA or the Muley Point Avion Extreme Excellence Fools Errand Award...
I can’t believe it’s taken so long to get this close to completion, but I will be done this winter and I’m planning a trip to the Overland Expo in Flagstaff. It’s the weekend of May 16, 17, 18. Annie and I are also considering another houseboating adventure on Powell. However, meeting up at Muley Point with other Avionistas would take precedence over both those other activities, so let’s see what the
interest is. It’s only a couple of hundred miles from MP to Flagstaff and the Expo looks like an event with lots of fellow travelers for us.
I’ve done the water heater. Now on to building a bath cabinet for the sink and plumbing. The end is really and truly in sight. I promise pics soon.
Onward!

D1. Jane and I first visited Muley Point after the Overland Expo. As you know its a great spot to visit Monument Valley which is highly visible from there. I think that May is a terrific time as well. My friend Gordon White at Truck Camper Magazine said to keep him on notice if we meet up - might make a good story - or a great calendar photo

I’ve been taking advantage of some dryer but colder weather to finally finish mounting my Stablelift to the camper and truck. Last night finishing drilling and bolting in the dark the lower hoops together now that they are all bed lined to protect them from rust. Now I am trying to mount the saddles to the truck frame that the hoops latch into in place of turnbuckles or other tiedowns. I am hoping to get them sorted tonight as I am running out of good weather. ??

On edit: I'm now reading your fascinating description of the work and the motivation. And yes, it looks like a candidate for the MPAEEP. You have to appear in person, with the camper, at Muley Point to pick up the award ;-)

Visiting Muley Point is a dream! Any sense if it is accessible in December? We are going to do a test trip out west for the holidays.

I wish I could meet up with you guys for Overland Expo West in spring. That would be epic. But we are devoting spring to wrapping up this build so we can go to Alaska in the Summer.

On that note: is anyone going to Overland Expo East this coming weekend? We'll be there on Friday.
