Topic: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos

Ticki2, I am forever amazed at your depth of knowledge, and willingness to share it. Thanks!

On another less pleasant subject. Does anyone have any experience with portable waste tanks? In particular using them for both black water as well as grey water....and where in the world do you store a tank? I can imagine stuffing it into the bathroom, I suppose. But, unless its really clean it could be a problem, not to mention bulky and in the way.

I use a 45 gallon thetford, I put big eye hooks (the lag bolt kind) into the underside of the floor on the rear overhang and uses ratcheting straps to cinch the tank up to the underside.

I may try to get my C10 down off the saw horses tomorrow to get it low enough so that I can start prepping the camper for the new stable lift being built in Montana now.
Hopefully will get to use it this fall.
I hope everyone else is getting to use their Avion this summer.
Hope to hear from more of you soon!

Is there any chance you could post some photos?

Matt did you reinforce the floor to hang an additional 360# on the overhang ? I'm not sure an Avion floor could take it .

I only used this method for transporting empty between camps in this configuration.

When I was using it, the camper was generally off the truck, so I either just hitched it to the truck and towed it to a dump site (if it was in a short distance), or used a set of harbor freight tailgate ramps to roll it up into the back of the truck to haul.

These aren't the best photos of it in use, but they're the only ones I have of it in play during a 10,000+ mile journey across the country.

You can see it poking out a bit from the underside of the rear overhang. The tanks hanging upside down so that it had a flat surface to clamp up against the underside of the camper's main holding tank.

Hey 67avion, I passed by on I-57 going to and from St Louis recently. Would have stopped by but I was in the "company" car so I just waved instead [emoticon]
